Sam Schmidt Motorsports Qualifying Report
Saturday, May 21
INDIANAPOLIS (May 21, 2011) – Alex Tagliani won the pole for the 100th Anniversary Indianapolis 500 and his Sam Schmidt Motorsports (SSM) teammate, Townsend Bell, qualified an impressive fourth during the first of two days of qualifying for the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”

SSM was the only IZOD IndyCar Series team with two drivers in the top-five once the first day of qualifying was complete.

Tagliani, driver of the No. 77 Bowers & Wilkins Dallara/Honda/Firestone for SSM, posted the fastest time in the first segment of qualifying, while Bell, driver of the No. 99 Herbalife24 Dallara/Honda/Firestone for SSM, was fifth on the board. Those runs moved each driver into the “Fast Nine” segment of qualifying at the end of the day. Originally, the “Fast Nine” were required to make at least one four-lap qualifying attempt, with optional attempts if time permitted, but after a rain shower drenched the track, officials declared that each car would get one attempt to qualify for the pole, once the track was dry.

In a drama-filled final hour, with the sun setting behind the main straightaway grandstands at the “World’s Greatest Race Course,” the cars went out in inverted order from their speeds in the first segment, with ninth-fastest Buddy Rice getting the provisional pole with a four-lap average of 225.786 mph. Eighth-fastest Oriol Servia quickly took the pole away from Rice with an average of 227.168 mph and withstood attempts by Will Power and Ed Carpenter.

Bell then took to the course and his average of 226.887 mph put him second on the board behind Servia and both drivers remained 1-2 after the run of 2005 winner Dan Wheldon. Two-time and reigning Indianapolis 500 champion Dario Franchitti was next up and posted three laps above 227 mph, which would have given him the pole position. Amazingly, and to the bewilderment of almost everyone at the Speedway, his car ran out of fuel and he was unable to complete his fourth and final lap.

His Target Chip Ganassi Racing teammate, Scott Dixon, then blasted around the famed 2.5-mile oval at an average of 227.340 mph and took the pole from Servia, while pushing Bell back to third.

Tagliani was the only driver left in the “Fast Nine,” and let it be known early that he was gunning for the pole with a first lap of 29.5200 seconds at 227.733 mph. All four of his laps were above 227 mph and his cumulative time of 2:38.2613 with an average speed of 227.472 mph gave the Canadian his first Indianapolis 500 pole.

With Tagliani on the pole and Bell with his career-best Indianapolis 500 qualifying effort of fourth, a jubilant celebration took place on pit lane with the entire SSM team, including team owner, Sam Schmidt, who earned his first Indianapolis 500 pole as an owner.

Day one of qualifying is now complete and spots 1-24 were filled, with Tagliani, Dixon and Servia comprising the front row. The remainder of the top-10 is Bell, Power, Wheldon, Rice, Carpenter, Franchitti and Takuma Sato.

Qualifying continues tomorrow with the always eventful “Bump Day.” The final nine spots in the field will be earned through traditional four-lap qualifying from noon-6 p.m. (EDT). Bumping will begin once 33 cars have qualified. The 33 fastest cars will start the 2011 Indianapolis 500.

VERSUS will broadcast Bump Day qualifying from noon-6:30 p.m.

Alex Tagliani, Driver of the No. 77 Bowers & Wilkins Dallara/Honda/Firestone for Sam Schmidt Motorsports:

Talk about your day.

“Well, you know, it’s difficult to explain. A lot of sacrifice and tears and pain through my career, but you know, I think for this team, just the fact that everybody is still intact, and they accepted my offer to be part of this adventure last year, and they take the risk to lose credibility if the driver is no good and if the resources are not there; and for Joe Atkins from Bowers & Wilkins after a 20-minute phone call, he said, ‘OK, I’ll sponsor you,’ and he got hooked to be the sponsor of this team; and for Sam that looked at it and said this is an entity that is good and deserves to continue; and just for the boys. Like I’m at the shop most every day, and I see how much passion they have to build this car. You know, it’s good already. We sit on the top most of the week, but every time you go into our garage, you know, they always do something on it, and I think that shows how much they care and how much they want to have results. So like I said, it’s very difficult to explain, but to do it here at this particular time, you know, the 100th anniversary, if you participate in the 100th, you didn’t do the first one and you won’t do the 200th, so this just happens once. (Laughter.)”

How important was it for you to have someone like Allen McDonald who’s already won this race with Andretti Green?

“Allen is a guy that I would like to have as an engineer until I end my career in open-wheel racing basically. He’s a great friend. In racing there’s a lot of emotions, and I’ve said, like not long ago, that we were coming off the wheel because I’m a road course specialist and I’m not going to be happy until I sit on pole in street course and road course, but here? He’s amazing. He has this patience and this plan prior to start running the car where as a driver you ‑‑ you know, it actually relaxes you a lot because you just listen to him, the way he wants to do things. If you’ve seen the statistics last year, we ran probably 89 laps before we start racing. I don’t know how many laps we did before we qualified, but we’re the car that completed the least. He knows this track a lot. He knows the track with a lot of particularity when it’s windy and the temperature, so I was on track when I needed to be and getting great confidence about the car, and when we started trimming, he’s always telling me what we’re doing and what I should expect, and it allows me to be pretty good with the tools when I need to go out there and adjust the car. He plays a big role, and what I like about Allen is also that he allows everybody to have a good spot in the team. Brendon Cleave, he’s an amazing engineer, as well, and he’s acting as a damper and assistant engineer, Robert Gue, Craig Luba, the guys, they just like working with Allen because Allen gives them a chance to be part of this group and developing the car through the winter. You know, Sam allowed them to pretty much do everything they wanted because he believes in the capabilities that they have. So I think the chemistry is very important. It’s not just a one-man show. It’s a big team effort here.”

Alex, your competitor Scott Dixon said that you had worked primarily on qualifying through this week. Is that true, or did you do some race setup?

“No, I mean, early in the week we were on pretty heavy downforce with a full tank, so obviously the tires were better than they’re going to be when you’re going to have full tanks. But we know what the car has in regards of speed with the downforce. But yes, you know, I think Scott realized that we don’t have the luxury to go out there and risk a car that is capable of being on pole, and it was the smart approach. I think knowing it from the NASCAR guys, when they have a car that is very good, they just never run it other than at that track, and that’s why they keep accumulating cars in their shop, because they’re just getting paranoid that that car is just good at that particular track. So this car is the car I drove last year. It was fast. It unloaded fast. If you feel that you have a shot to be on the pole for the 100th, you’re not going to go out there and draft people and put yourself at risk. And Rob Edwards, the manager, and with Sam, they said, past 5:00 you guys pull back in the garage because it’s going to get crazy out there, lots of tows, and we just followed the plan, and I think that’s why we’re here tonight.

It would seem that your team has more rights to gripe than most other teams. Look at the things that have happened, not only with Sam, obviously with his situation in the past, but all the events of the last winter for you, and yet your attitude, folks are always smiling, and here you are now. Is there some special thing that you’re doing to try to intentionally stay positive, and has that paid off, or is that just something that’s part of the people who are there?

“A bit to anticipate your question, I think if you would be able to see us at work during the week, Allen McDonald comes from a pretty big organization. He comes from Andretti Green, and they were running four cars. But he’s really happy. You know, he’s really happy where he is, and I think the respect that Rob Edwards has accumulated over the years working for Walker, 16 years with the same team, when he picked up the phone and he called the guys, three quarters of the team, I worked with them in the past, and you know, didn’t take long for them to accept. And when we work together, we’re just ‑‑ we fight, we kiss each other, we hug each other, we go for dinner. You know, it’s just like we all know what’s at stake. We want this team to succeed. You know, like we don’t put our sweat, our tears, our effort just to come here and parade and just say we’re part of the Indy 500 or we’re just going to compete in IndyCar. And this year it was even more, because for me when I started, I had this discussion many times, it’s like last year we didn’t have a leader. I accepted to start this team because it was my opportunity to be in the seat. I wanted to be in the seat. But now we have a leader in Sam, who has shown trust in us very quickly, and that’s why the chemistry just continues. Just now we want to win for our leader, because there’s a lot more pride when there’s someone on top that controls us and gives us a direction than when the driver is in the seat and his partner is in Montreal. It was the wrong, I think, structure. I think there’s more to come from this.”

You are obviously on a very happy high right now, but just a comment. I think as the week unfolds you’ll come to understand how many other people who followed your week, how many of those you made happy and how many people will end up being just cheered up by what you both have done.

“Yeah, I realize a bit. I tried to be available as much as possible in the garage to the fans. Like I said before, the one thing that also makes me very happy is that I’ll be able to get rid of some beers that I have in the bus because Joe Atkins from Bowers likes to drink his beers, and with the pole we’ll get rid of the beers. But also, all the people that ‑‑ but also everyone for some reason, is like a little bit tired of the domination of the Penskes and the Ganassis, everyone that came and cheered for us and bet on us, I’m happy that we didn’t make them lose money.”

How do you feel about your (swimming) pool invoice now?

“Very happy. Yeah, my wife is very frugal, and like we were shopping for furniture because we actually have like rented furniture in the condo now here in Indy. So I wanted like a coffee table for the new place, and she said, no, no coffee table, you can’t spend that. So now she just told me that I can have the coffee table that I wanted. And the other day, it started like being a bad day. It was last Friday, and I opened my phone, I get like this $2,600 invoice, my pool is broken, the pool guy has to repair it and all kinds of things, and I was like, ‘Oh, I really hope that we’ll stay on the top; maybe I can get a bit of money and pay that invoice.’ And then Castroneves goes out and starts drafting just to be like – I was pissed; I said it right here, give me my five minutes of fame and my check. But now it’s a much bigger check. So I’m happy for this team and for Sam and for all the guys. I think more than the money and all of that, I think it’s the timing is great for what we’ve done this week.

Last year you kind of surprised everyone when you made the Fast Nine, and this year you repeated it and now claimed the pole. Talk about the difference between last year and this year and how you went through that.

“Well, you know, it’s my third time here at Indy. The first year I went through a big roller coaster, as well, came out with the Rookie of the Year. But it was not easy. I had bad luck and luck to be back in the field at the end, but I felt the pain of this musical chair and pulling out of line and not wanting to risk, and we paid the price at the end. And then last year I was on the other side of the fence. We were very strong from the beginning. But this year I think is just ‑‑ how important it is for a team to continue on what they built. You know, it’s not very easy to be a one-car team on the weekends. Normally we don’t have the luxury to have people like Dan Wheldon and Townsend Bell to come and look at data and work together and improve bit by bit when it’s getting so competitive. And that’s why teams like Ganassi and Penske have multiple cars, because they feel like it’s an advantage. So this year I think it’s just because we have been strong last year and over the winter, the crew and the engineering group built on it with very little change aerodynamically in the car and in the tires, it shows the potential that this team has. When we’re in the window and we unload fast, I think we’re pretty much on the top. But it’s difficult when we unload and we’re not in the window; being a one-car team at road courses we’re struggling a bit because we’re throwing the dice. But here I think it’s a good place to show that the team is very, very strong.”

Townsend Bell, Driver of the No. 99 Herbalife24 Dallara/Honda/Firestone for Sam Schmidt Motorsports:
It looked like maybe you were going to hang on that front row for a while. That would have been really exciting, but nonetheless, tremendous.

“Yeah, we gave it everything we had. That’s a pretty good four laps, I think, for the car, and really stoked for the team, obviously for Alex. He’s got a rocket ship. He’s done a great job, and he deserves every ounce of the speed he’s got out of that thing. We’re happy with our run. The Herbalife car has been strong since the moment I got into it, and with my engineer, Gerald, we’ve continued to make it better and better and felt like we’ve made smart decisions, and here we are, we’re inside the second row and ready to rip.

If you could talk about everything this team has done with both cars this month in terms of not just bringing them up to speed but really setting the pace this whole month, being among the leaders.

“Yeah, it’s pretty impressive when you look at the organization that Sam has and the amount of things that he has going on, and to still produce the quality that he’s given us here is exceptional. You know, my car got off an airplane from Brazil a day late because of the rain delay down there, and the team just hustled big time, guys were working through the night to try to get the thing turned around and to oval spec and Indy spec, and they pulled it off. It’s great to have a chance to go fast here, and full credit to the team for making it happen.”

Can you talk about the 24 on your hat?

“Well, my sponsor Herbalife, they’ve been with me for four years, they’ve got a great new line of products called 24. It’s for the 24-hour athletes. There’s seven different products in the range. It’s ‑‑ a big part of going fast and going fast for a long time is having good nutrition, so that’s what they’ve put together.”

Do you use the products?

“Of course, yeah, every day. Since I’ve had an association with that company, Herbalife has just given me tremendous support in terms of understanding the nutrition I need before, during and after racing. I used to think just a bowl of pasta and some water was the way to go, but with this new 24 line it’s pretty impressive what they’ve come up with. They’ve worked three years on it, and they’re launching it at the Indy 500 and the Tour de California back home.”

With the rain we had a little bit different format for the top nine. Everybody only got one shot instead of being able to make multiple attempts. Did you like that format? Could we be on to something here?

“I liked it. You know, for us, I think if Penske, Ganassi had a little bit more time, there’s probably a few more tricks in their bag than what we had. I was quite pleased that we were able to make a solid run earlier today to get into the top nine, was pleased with that. And then the fact that it’s just one shot, do what you can, I like those odds for us. So I was happy with that. I think it’s exciting. It seemed like the fans liked it. Just standing out there you could feel a buzz and an energy and an excitement about the way things played out. It was pretty cool.”

Given how you’re really just running this race this season so far, how much additional pressure does that put on you to perform and do well?

“You know, it’s a really good pressure because it’s not so much pressure, it’s like I savor every minute here. If this is the only race I do this year ‑‑ maybe I’ll do more, I never know. But you just savor every minute you’re at this wonderful speedway and driving cars fast and all of that good stuff. But yeah, I just savor it. You know, it’s a little stressful. I find the first round of qualifying a little stressful because we don’t have a backup car. We’re out flirting at the very limit, and there’s a little extra pressure just to make sure you don’t screw up and make sure you’re in the race. But then once I know that I’m in the top nine, man, I couldn’t wait to get out there and just let loose. I love it. I want this month to go twelve.”

Sam Schmidt, Owner, Sam Schmidt Motorsports:

This is a great personal accomplishment for Tagliani, but what a day for your race team.

“Yeah, I mean, I’m rarely at a loss for words, but this has been difficult ever since it happened to put it into words. I mean, I grew up in California and watched Rick Mears and just dreamed about coming to this place and then was fortunate ‑‑ my dad was actually a team owner here for the Donald Davidsons of the world in 1978 and ‘79, and they didn’t have any great success, and then started coming here, drove here in ‘97 and ‘99. It’s truly huge. Whether it’s the 100th anniversary, whether it’s the adversity that this team has overcome and Alex has overcome personally, whatever, I mean, it’s just really, really large.”

It would seem that your team has more rights to gripe than most other teams. Look at the things that have happened, not only with you, obviously with your situation in the past, but all the events of the last winter for Alex, and yet your attitude, folks are always smiling, and here you are now. Is there some special thing that you’re doing to try to intentionally stay positive, and has that paid off, or is that just something that’s part of the people who are there?

“I don’t know how long people have known Alex, but I don’t think he has a problem with that as far as a positive attitude. For me when something like this happens you can either choose to stay at home and watch ESPN all day or you can get out and do something with your life. For me, I’ve done a lot of things in my life. The thing that made getting up every morning worthwhile, beyond my faith and my family pushing me, was the ability to come out here and compete. I make no bones about it; I’d much rather be in the driving seat rather than in the owning seat, but this is definitely the second-best thing, and this is really special because at the end of the day, as Alex has said a couple times, it’s much more difficult to put the right group of people together, and it’s much more challenging. To get this all to work is really difficult. So at the world’s greatest venue in the world, to have this today is ‑‑ it just makes it all that much more special. I mean, I was more than willing to pack it in at 4:00 o’clock, take the trophy and go home with that rain delay. I was calling on everybody I knew with Cherokee blood lines to do a rain dance. But the reality is this is much more special to go out there and actually do it and beat them at their own game, so to speak, and with a much smaller operation, much less funding, and I think that’s what the Indy Racing League and the IndyCar Series is all about.”

Obviously today is a very special day for you and Alex, and I’m sure one of the lowest points in your life was probably when you had your accident in 2000. Could you just talk about where today rates in your life?

“Yeah, I’ve definitely had some roller coasters in my life, just – where does that rate? It’s for sure near the top. First and foremost, my wife and my kids are the most important thing in my life, so seeing some of their accomplishments and seeing how they’ve grown up to be spectacular kids is really good. I’m sure it has nothing to do with me. But that’s really special. And leading the race here in ‘99 myself was really a special moment, and both Arie and I still feel like we should have won that race, but we didn’t. So there’s always just this burning desire to come back and finish what’s unfinished. So this is – and then you’ve got the Indy Lights program. We’ve won five out of seven races here, which is spectacular, knock on wood, but it still doesn’t fill the void of winning the best against the best. This is one huge step forward, and we knew ‑‑ like Alex said, we knew coming in that it was fast, but as several people have seen over the years here, lots of funny things happen here, and so you’ve not only got to get ‑‑ there’s races within races. You’ve got to get through every practice. You’ve got to get through every day, and we had our spins with the rain this month, just all of these roller coasters this month. From a racing perspective and an accomplishment perspective for the team, for Alex, for myself, this is right up there.”

Canadian Finishes 15th After Recovering From a Spin

Date:                 April 10, 2011
Event:                Honda Grand Prix of Alabama (Round 2 of 17)
Series:               IZOD IndyCar Series
Location:           Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Ala. (2.3-mile, 17-turn road course)
Start/Finish:       12th/15th (Running, completed 90 of 90 laps)
Winner:             Will Power of Team Penske

Sam Schmidt Motorsports (SSM) driver Alex Tagliani was not making a political statement when he said he couldn’t get the ‘reds’ to work with him during the Honda Grand Prix of Alabama in Leeds, Ala., on Sunday, April 10, 2011. Tagliani was referencing the red alternate Firestone Firehawk tires, one of two tire compounds Firestone provides to teams of the IZOD IndyCar Series for road course races.

The Canadian struggled with the handling of the No. 77 Bowers &Wilkins Dallara/Honda/Firestone Indy car through most of the 90-lap race before finishing in 15th place.

Tagliani’s race started aggressively and successfully, seeing him gain two positions on the first lap and two more positions on a lap 3 restart. Though he radioed to his crew early that he had developed a push, Tagliani quickly settled in to a steady pace while running in eighth place. A strong finish looked possible for the SSM team.

A chance at another top 10 finish to match his season-opening sixth place finish in St. Petersburg two weeks ago, however, dissolved after Tagliani spun in turn 16, seven laps into his second set of tires.

“We had our share of issues during the race, but I feel really sorry about the spin,” said a dejected Tagliani after climbing from his car on pit lane. “I don’t know what happened. I just lost the back end going into turn 16. I was doing the same as usual and the back end just snapped out on me, and I couldn’t recover it. It was unfortunate, but we were really struggling on the reds, to keep the life in the reds. When we put on the blacks, the car was still a bit loose, so we put the reds on again, and again we went through the life of the reds and destroyed the fronts. I don’t know where we could have finished, but I feel bad. I feel sorry, but we have to turn the page and do it again in Long Beach.”

SSM IndyCar Team Manager Rob Edwards, though disappointed with the team’s performance in Alabama, tried to find a silver lining by putting the day in perspective.

“The good news is we’ve got another full distance under our belts, the car is in one piece, and we go to Long Beach next week, which has always been a good track for Alex” said Edwards. “The more we work together, the stronger we get. It was just one of those days. We were on track with the strategy we were running, but once you lose a lap and move yourself to the back of the pack, you tear up the playbook at that point and start seeing what you can invent. We were able to get ourselves back on the lead lap, but we couldn’t do much from there.”

Will Power and his Team Penske Dallara dominated the race leading all 90 laps and earning Team Penske back-to-back wins at Barber Motorsports Park. Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves won the 2010 Barber race for Roger Penske’s team. Rounding out the top five were Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti, Marco Andretti and Oriol Servia.

Tony Kanaan came from the 24th starting position to finish sixth. Castroneves, rookie Simon Pagenaud, Simona De Silvestro and rookie Charlie Kimball completed the top 10.

Power’s margin of victory was 3.3828 seconds over Dixon. There were six caution periods for a total of 20 laps.

The IZOD IndyCar Series races next week on the streets of Long Beach, Calif., in the 37th Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach on Sunday, April 17. The race will be televised live on VERSUS beginning at 3:30 p.m. EDT.

Alex Tagliani closes the FAZZT Race Team inaugural IndyCar season in 13th place in the standings

Homestead, Florida (October 2, 2010) - Starting 19th on the grid, FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani finished 14th in Saturday night's 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series finale at the Florida 2.414-km Homestead-Miami Speedway oval track to close the inaugural season of the FAZZT Race Team in 13th place overall in the driver standings. FAZZT played a strategy game in the race when they did not pit during a caution at the halfway point while the leaders did. The team was hoping for caution free to the end of the race that would enable Tagliani to pit only once more while the others would have to make two stops to reach the end of the 200-lap Cafes do Brasil Indy 300. Tagliani led three laps before making his stop. Unfortunately, the off-sequence plan did not work when point's leader Will Power brushed the wall on lap 133 bringing out a full course yellow.

Power's slap into the wall broke his right front and rear suspensions ending his hopes for his first championship title. Scott Dixon won the final race of the season for Chip Ganassi Racing while his teammate Dario Franchitti, who led the most laps in the race, slowed down following Will Power's demise to finish eighth in the race and clinch his third championship in four years, the fifth in-a-row for Ganassi Racing.

"It was a pretty good race until the last restart," Alex Tagliani said. "The boys did a good job, and the car was getting faster with each lap. All the way through the race, we were able to be competitive on restarts and make some up some ground and were able to make it all the way up to 11th. We were pushed into the grey on the last restart and lost a bunch of positions. We fought back all the way through, we were side by side with Ed Carpenter off the last corner on the last lap but it was just a little too late. Other than that it was a good race, we had a top ten car and were able to drive up through the field."

Rob Edwards, FAZZT Race Team COO/General Manager:
"An exciting race, a good drive from Alex and another excellent job from the crew. Don, Phil and the guys have given us a 100% reliability record in our first year and are to be congratulated on that. Disappointing not to finish a little higher tonight and secure twelfth in the points but we have a lot to be thankful for from this season and we will go into the break excited about our prospects for 2011."

The IndyCar Series returns in 2011 with the season opener on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida the weekend of March 27, 2011. The return of two traditional venues, Milwaukee and New Hampshire, and the addition of an exciting new downtown event in Baltimore are highlights of the 17-race 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series schedule with eight ovals and road/street events.

Alex Tagliani will start from row 10 at Homestead-Miami

Homestead, Florida (October 1st, 2010) - Canadian driver Alex Tagliani qualified 19th in Friday's session held at the 2.414-km Homestead-Miami Speedway oval track located Southern Florida. The FAZZT Race Team driver posted timed-lap speeds of 338.921 and 338.676 km/h for an average speed of 338.798 km/h for his two-lap qualifying run. Driving the #77 Bowers & Wilkins-La Capsule Sportive-TorcUp Dallara, Tagliani will start Saturday's Cafes do Brasil Indy 300 from the inside of row 10 next to Andretti Autosport driver Ryan Hunter-Reay.

"Qualifying was definitely a nasty surprise; it was a very disappointing result considering where we were in practice," said Alex Tagliani who was eighth in the morning free session. "Honestly I really don't know what went wrong; we just didn't have the speed. The car was not bad, but we just weren't fast enough in qualifying to challenge the top ten. Hopefully we will have a good car for the race and make it back towards the front to consolidate our position in the top twelve in points for the season."

Rob Edwards, FAZZT Race Team COO/General Manager:
"Clearly a disappointing qualifying session but as we have seen before this year the FAZZT team has great resilience and the ability to turn a poor qualifying performance into a good race result. I have great confidence in Allen and the guys to analyze the data and give us a good package for the race. We have had a great first season and we look forward to Saturday night and ending the year on a high note."

Chip Ganassi driver Dario Franchitti won his second pole of the season ahead of teammate Scott Dixon. Franchitti edged Dixon by only six hundredths of a second with point's leader Will Power taking third place ahead of his Team Penske teammate Ryan Briscoe. Dan Wheldon and Justin Wilson will share row three.

Saturday's series finale will decide who will be champion and only Will Power and Dario Franchitti are still contending for top honors. With 11 points separating the two protagonists, whomever finishes the race ahead of the other has a good chance to clinch the title. For Will Power, the strategy is simple: to finish the race ahead of his rival. As for defending series and race champion Franchitti, he needs to finish in the top two ahead of Power and lead most laps in order to clinch his third title in four years.

Round 17 of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar schedule is a 200-lap, 483 kilometers race that will be broadcast live Saturday night October 2 on TSN starting with the pre-race show at 6:00 p.m. and a race start at 7:00 p.m. Live Timing and scoring as well as video coverage of the race are available at www.indycar.com.

Alex Tagliani moves up the field to finish 13th in Japan

Montréal (September 19, 2010) - Starting in the back of grid in 23rd position, Canadian driver Alex Tagliani moved up the field in the penultimate race of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar schedule to finish 13th in the Indy Japan 300 held Sunday at the 2.414-km Twin Ring Motegi oval located 130 kilometers north of Tokyo in Japan. The FAZZT Race Team driver flirted with 10th place during the race following his final pit stop on lap 150. Fifteenth coming into the pits, he came back out on track in 11th place following excellent work by the FAZZT Team. Unfortunately, Tagliani was unable to fend off Dan Wheldon and Takuma Sato who respectively went by him on laps 170 and 171.

"Yeah it was a good race for the Bowers & Wilkins/TorcUP machine," Alex Tagliani said. "We recovered well from qualifying although obviously it would have been really better to start in the top 10. It was a good race, the strategy was good, and the boys did a great job in the pits. We had a quick car and considering the track is known to be a very difficult place to pass, I think we can be very happy with the fact that we gained ten positions during the race. We come away very proud with what we accomplished. We finished in front of the drivers we are battling with in the championship, and we made up one spot. We'll go into Homestead-Miami to do better than we did here and wrap up the season doing the best job we can."

Helio Castroneves dominated round 16 of the 2010 schedule to score his third win of the season, his second on the Twin Ring Motegi oval. Starting from pole, the Team Penske driver led 153 of the 200-lap race to cross the finish line 4.5 seconds ahead of Chip Ganassi Racing's Dario Franchitti. Franchitti's second place finish enabled him to win the A.J. Foyt Oval Championship. Team Penske teammates Will Power and Ryan Briscoe finished third and fourth. Danica Patrick finished fifth. Eighteen drivers finished the race on the leader's lap.

Rob Edwards, FAZZT Race Team COO/General Manager:
"I said last night that I had every confidence in Alex and our engineers working through the data to give us a good race car and they did just that. We were able to make some calls on strategy and Alex did an excellent job in the car as we moved up through the field ten places. The result moved us up to 12th in points and so we will go to Homestead-Miami looking to finish our first season on a high note. Great teamwork has been our strength all year and it was again today. I am very proud and happy for Alex and all of the team."

In the point standings after 16 of the 17-race schedule, Will Power still leads with 587 points, but Dario Franchitti closed the championship point's gap to 12 heading into the final race of the season at Homestead-Miami in two week's time. Helio Castroneves who has scored his second win in a row moves up another spot in the standings to third with 501 points. He is followed by Scott Dixon (497) and Ryan Briscoe (450). As for Tagliani, he takes sole position of 12th place with 286 points.

The IndyCar Series drivers will have 12 days off before their final race of the season at Homestead-Miami Speedway the weekend of October 1st and 2nd.

Twin Ring Motegi Qualifying Report

A tough day at the track for Alex Tagliani

Montréal (September 18, 2010) - Things did not turn out the way FAZZT Race Team expected during qualifying for the Indy Japan 300 held Saturday at the 2.414-km Twin Ring Motegi egg-shaped oval track located 130 kilometers north of Tokyo in Japan as Alex Tagliani qualified 23rd for Sunday's race. Second in line to qualify, Tagliani's warm up lap was not up to pace leading the Canadian driver to post qualifying lap speeds of 314.451 km/h and 315.217 km/h for a combined time of 55.9844 seconds. He will start the race from row 12 next to Simona de Silvestro.

"Today's results were not quite what we were looking for in times," Alex Tagliani said. "We were struggling a bit with understeer in the first practice session and although we made some positive changes for the second session we still needed to free up the car. The guys worked really hard to try to get the car to where we thought we wanted to be for qualifying but, unfortunately, we went too far. We just have to work that much harder tomorrow to make sure we have a good result for Bowers & Wilkins and TorcUP."

Team Penske driver Helio Castroneves won his second pole of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series, his fourth in five years at the Twin Ring Motegi oval track with a combined two-lap qualifying time of 54.1803 seconds to edge his teammate Ryan Briscoe by a mere one tenth of a second. Third place went to point's leader Will Power, also from Team Penske. Fourth quickest in the lone qualifying session was Dario Franchitti. Marco Andretti and Tony Kanaan, both driving for Andretti Autosport, will fill row three of the starting grid for the Japan Indy 300.

Round 16 of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar schedule is a 200-lap, 483 kilometers race that will be broadcast live Saturday night September 18 on TSN2 at 11:00 p.m., Eastern Time. Live Timing and Scoring as well as video coverage of the race are available at www.indycar.com.

Rob Edwards, FAZZT Race Team COO/General Manager:
"Considering that we qualified slower than we ran in the first practice session we are clearly very disappointed with where we are starting tomorrow's race. The compressed schedule today did not allow any room for error and we were just too ambitious with the changes that we made for qualifying. I have every confidence in Alex and our engineers working through the data tonight to give us a good race car for tomorrow and we will hope for the chance to execute a strategy to move up through the field."

Brake problems hamper the FAZZT Race Team in Kentucky

Sparta, Kentucky (September 4, 2010) - Brake problems hampered the FAZZT Race Team during Saturday night's Kentucky Indy 300 held at the 2.414 km tri-oval Kentucky Speedway. Starting 13th on the grid, Canadian Alex Tagliani ran as high as 10th place before the situation occurred around the halfway mark. Tagliani had to make two extra stops under a full course yellow to try and correct the problem, but to no avail. He finished in 15th place.

Against all odds, Brazilian Helio Castroneves won the race crossing the finish line more than 13 seconds ahead of polesitter Ed Carpenter. Team Penske's race strategy worked its magic during his fuel economy run near the end of the event as all his opponents had to pit for a splash of fuel in the closing moments of the 200-lap affair. Dan Wheldon finished third ahead of Tony Kanaan and Dario Franchitti. Marco Andretti came in sixth, followed by Scott Dixon and Will Power.

"Again I'm very proud of the team I think they did a great job on the car," Alex Tagliani said. "We had a really good solid car to finish in the top 10 easily. When we were in traffic, the car was fast. We seem to be quicker than Dario; definitely in turbulence, the car was good really. At one point, we started to have brake problems, and every time I came in the pits, I really had a hard time slowing down as I came into my box. It was the same to get onto the speed limiter entering pit lane. With this problem, we kept losing a lot of positions. We've had a good car for the last two oval races, and I'm pleased with the way the car is set up. It's just unfortunate that we didn't have a good clean race. Every race is a big learning curve for the team, but the team is progressing well at every race. This is also my first time here in Kentucky. A year from now when we come back here I think it's going to be totally different."

Rob Edwards, FAZZT Race Team COO/General Manager:
"Disappointing result. I think we had a pretty good racecar but we had a problem with the brakes and that meant that we had to be very cautious during the pit stops. We made a couple of extra stops under yellow to check the car out and make sure that everything was all right. Ultimately we lost time on the last two stops having to be careful coming into the pits. We probably had a top-10 car, and ended up 15th because of it. We ran a full race, good experience for Tag, good experience for the team, certainly for next year when we come back here we have a good place to start."

In the point standings, Will Power still leads with 552 points, 17 more that second place Dario Franchitti. Scott Dixon is third with 469 points. Race winner Helio Castroneves has moved up from fifth to fourth place with 448 points, 30 more than Ryan Briscoe. Tagliani is now 12th overall, tied in the points with Vitor Meira with 269 each.

The IndyCar Series drivers will have next weekend off before heading out to Japan to compete in round 16 of the 17-race 2010 schedule on the Twin Ring Motegi oval on Saturday, September 18.

Sparta, Kentucky (September 3, 2010) - On his first-ever visit to the 2.414-km Kentucky Speedway tri-oval, Canadian Alex Tagliani placed his No 77 Bowers & Wilkins Dallara in 13th position in Friday's lone qualifying session. Tagliani will start Saturday night's Kentucky Indy 300 from the inside of row seven next to rookie Takuma Sato. The FAZZT Race Team driver averaged 348.247 km/h during his two-lap qualifying run (49.2443 s), only 348 thousandths of a second from pole winner Ed Carpenter (48.8958 s). Carpenter, who averaged 350.728 km/h, edged points leader Will Power by only 23 thousandths of a second to score his first-ever IndyCar pole. For the first time in his IZOD IndyCar Series career, Carpenter will lead the field of 27 cars on the opening circuit of the 200-lap round 13 of the 2010 season schedule. Dan Wheldon and Scott Dixon will share Row two, while the cars of Hideki Mutoh and rookie Bertrand Baguette will fill the next row.

"It was a good effort from everyone. The car was a little bit loose in qualifying but we were faced with gusts of wind, which was very different from the conditions we experienced in the morning," Alex Tagliani said. "Our first qualifying lap was a P9 lap but we dropped off on lap two as I got loose and lost momentum. Overall, it was still very good. The car was a little closer to what we are looking for than it was when we first got to Chicago last weekend, and eventually we had a really fast car for that race. From where we are starting for Saturday's race we can definitely make it to the front."

Rob Edwards, FAZZT Race Team COO/General Manager:
"I'm reasonably happy with qualifying I think we should have been in the top ten, but we just lost a little speed in turn three and four on the last lap. I think we've got a good racecar for tomorrow. We had a good race in Chicago although we didn't get the result that we wanted, but I think the momentum from Chicago has carried with us though into Kentucky. We're excited about tomorrow night and putting the Bowers and Wilkins/La Capsule Sportive/TorcUP car up front."

The green flag for round 15 of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar schedule will be waved Saturday September 4 at 7:45 p.m., Eastern Time. The 200 laps, 483 kilometers race will be broadcast on a tape delay Saturday night on TSN2 at 11:00 p.m., ET. I think we had the car to beat" - Alex Tagliani

Joliet, Illinois (August 29, 2010) - During a race restart on Saturday night's PEAK Antifreeze & Motor Oil Indy 300 held at the 2.086-kilometer D-shaped tri-oval Chicagoland Speedway, Canadian driver was punted out of the race following an incident between Brazilian Vitor Meira and Hideki Mutoh of Japan. An off course excursion by rookie Ana Beatriz had caused the second full course yellow on lap 78 of 200, and as the cars were ready for the restart on lap 86, Meira bumped Mutoh's car which collected Tagliani's FAZZT racecar causing left side pod and left rear suspension damage. While Tagliani retired in the pits in 25th place overall, Meira would go on to finish ninth and Mutoh 12th.

Tagliani pitted early in the race following the first caution and returned to the track in 20th position. He steadily moved up the field to eventually take command of the event on lap 58. As he was entering pit lane for his second stop, he ran out of fuel on, losing a lap to the leaders. He was soon back on the leaders lap, but the fuel incident had put him in a situation where he was near the tail-end of the field, were race incidents often occur on race restart.

"I am extremely proud of the team," Alex Tagliani said. "We've had a good car this year on the oval and we were able to get it to the front again with the set up changes that we made for the race. We drove from 20th all the way to the front when we had a little issue with the fuel and went a lap down. We got the lap back and I don't think it was a problem at that point because we had moved so quickly to the front I knew we could do it again. On the restart, I got hit from behind and turned around and that was the end of our race. It's really unfortunate for the whole team; the Bowers and Wilkins/TorcUP car was great. I think we had the car to beat."

Chip Ganassi Racing outsmarted its rivals in the race run under the lights on Saturday night at Chicagoland Speedway to give its driver Dario Franchitti it 26th IndyCar career win. Ninth coming in for the last round of pit stops on lap 172, Ganassi decided not to change the tires on Franchitti's car, sending him out of the pits in first place and onto a visit to victory circle. He held off Dan Wheldon by 0.0423 of a second for his third win of the season. Marco Andretti led an Andretti Autosport trio in the top five with a third place finish. Ryan Hunter-Reay and Tony Kanaan followed.

Rob Edwards, COO/General Manager PEAK Antifreeze and Motor Oil Indy 300:
"So many positives out of such a disappointing result. We had a great car with great preparation from Don, Phil and the crew. Engineering worked into the late hours last night and they were at it again this morning. They put together a heck of a racecar. Alex drove his socks off to come up through the field. We made the decision to splash fuel on the first yellow but unfortunately, we didn't get as much fuel in as we thought we had. With a miscue there, we ran out before the second stop which put us at the back of the pack. Fortunately a yellow came out at the right time and put us back on the lead lap with 120 laps to go and with a race car as fast as it was I think we had a good chance to get something out of the night still. I don't know quite what happened between Mr. Meira and Mr. Mutoh, but we were the recipients of the carnage and so we'll move on to Kentucky. It's a disappointing result but tonight shows a huge number of positives for the team. It shows the character of the team and the depth of the team. We're here to be serious, we're not just here to make up the numbers."

Point Standings after 14 Rounds
The point standings order remains the same following Saturday's night PEAK Antifreeze & Motor Oil Indy 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. Will Power is still in first place with 528 points, but his lead has been cut down to 23 points over race winner Dario Franchitti (505). Power, who was battling for the lead with five laps to go, had to pit for a gallon of fuel. He finished 16th overall, one lap down. Scott Dixon, eighth in the race, is still third (443), and polesitter and defending race champion Ryan Briscoe, who finished 11th in the race, is fourth with 406 points. Helio Castroneves rounds out the top five with 398 points. As for Tagliani, he sits in 13th place with 254 points.

IndyCar drivers will not have much of a break as they go back to action for their third consecutive weekend of racing on September 3-4 at the Kentucky Speedway located in Sparta, for the Kentucky Indy 300 presented under the lights next Saturday night on the one and half mile oval track.

Tagliani and the FAZZT Team looking to move up the field during the race

Joliet, Illinois (August 27, 2010) - As he did in 2008 on his first visit to the 2.086-kilometer D-shaped tri-oval Chicagoland Speedway located in Joliet, Illinois, Canadian driver Alex Tagliani has once again qualified 19th out of 29 in Friday's qualifying session. The FAZZT Race Team driver will start Saturday's PEAK Antifreeze & Motor Oil Indy 300 from the inside of row 10 next to Belgian rookie Bertrand Baguette. There is however a ray of hope for Tagliani in the fact that Brazilian Helio Castroneves won the 2008 race at Chicagoland after starting 28th on the grid.

"I'm very frustrated! It's disappointing not to have qualified better but the race is obviously what counts," Alex Tagliani said. "The mile and a half ovals are all a little different and as a first year team, we are learning a bit each time on them. I think we've gained a lot in set up and what we've found will be good for the race tomorrow (Sunday), as well as Kentucky and the rest of the season. I know I can rely on the team to give me a good race car and I know that we can move forward from our starting position."

Ryan Briscoe, who collected his third consecutive Chicagoland pole and his second of the year, will be looking for a back-to-back win on the Illinois track. The Australian driver's pole was pole number 11 on the year for Team Penske. Team Chip Ganassi driver Dario Franchitti will start on the outside of the front row next to Briscoe. Eight of the other Team Penske poles were won by Will Power, who was third quickest in qualifying Friday. He will start next to teammate Helio Castroneves. Marco Andretti and Graham Rahal will share row three.

Round 14 of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar schedule is a 200-lap, 483 kilometers race that will run under the lights on Saturday and broadcasted live August 28 on TSN2 starting at 8:00 p.m., Eastern Time. Live coverage starts at 7:00. Live Timing and Scoring, as well as video coverage of the race are available at www.indycar.com.

Point Standings after 13 Rounds
With his fifth win of the season at the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma last week, Will Power has increased to 59 points his lead over Dario Franchitti in the overall standings. Power has 514 points to Franchitti's 455. Scott Dixon remains in third place with 419 points. Ryan Briscoe (385) and Helio Castroneves are fourth and fifth respectively. As for Tagliani, he moved up one position to 12th overall with 244 points.

Alex Tagliani recovers from race incidents to finish 14th in California

Sonoma, California (August 22, 2010) - Starting from fourth place on the grid, racecar driver Alex Tagliani had great hopes for round 13 of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series held Sunday at the Infineon Raceway road course, in Sonoma, California. Unfortunately, his dream of another top five finish vanished quite rapidly as his first set of tires lost all grip starting on lap 14 of the 75-lap race. He lost several positions, and four laps later, an opponent punted his FAZZT racecar, puncturing the right rear tire. When he came out of the pits on lap 19, he was all the way down to 23rd overall. Several incidents marked the sixth running of the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma, and Tagliani, who had moved up to 15th by lap 53, got involved this time with Hideki Mutoh who spun him around. Once again, Tagliani found himself down in 20th place. Fortunately for the Canadian driver, several drivers started again to bump one another off and he climbed back to 14th place at the checkered flag after passing Vitor Meira on the last lap.

"It was a tough day; unfortunately the first set of tires went away more quickly than we anticipated," Tagliani said. "We lost a few positions and then coming into turn 11 on lap 18 I'm not sure who punted me but I got hit and got a flat right rear tire. After that, we were just trying to recover. We got back up to P15 and then, I was punted by Mutoh (Hideki) in turn 7 which put us to the back again! I'm really proud of our team. We fought back to get a 14th place finish, which helps us for the championship. Three incidents in one race left us too much to do to get the result that we wanted which is unfortunate."

Australian Will Power was dominant in round 13 of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series to score his fifth win of the season. Starting on pole, the Team Penske driver led 73 of the 75-lap race, but on the last restart with six laps to go after a full course caution, Power got the heat from Scott Dixon, but the Chip Ganassi Racing driver was never able to move past the leading car. Dixon's teammate, Dario Franchitti, finished third ahead of Ryan Briscoe and Helio Castroneves, both from Team Penske.

"Obviously it's a disappointing result considering where we qualified and the high hopes we had going into the race. On the positive side we did get some points on the board and the objective for the end of the year is to get into the top 10 in points so from that point of view it wasn't the race we promised ourselves, but we did get something out of it. Once again Mid-Ohio and Sonoma have show the depth and character of the team. We look forward to Chicago and getting back on ovals for the last four races of the season."

The IndyCar Series returns to action next weekend for the Peak Antifreeze Indy 300 at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois on August 27-28.

Point Standings after 13 Rounds
With his fifth win of the season, Will Power has increased to 59 points his lead over Dario Franchitti in the overall standings. Power now has 514 points to Franchitti's 455. Scott Dixon remains in third place with 419 points. Ryan Briscoe (384) and Helio Castroneves are fourth and fifth respectively. As for Tagliani, he moved up one position to 12th overall with 244 points.

Alex Tagliani Impressive in Sonoma qualifying with a fourth-place on the grid

Sonoma, California (August 21, 2010) - On a racetrack unknown to the FAZZT Race Team and especially to Alex Tagliani, the Canadian driver showed great skills all weekend long on the Infineon Raceway road course to post the fourth best time in Saturday's qualifying. Tagliani will start round 13 of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series from the outside or row two, next to Dario Franchitti. The dedicated work done by the rookie team over the course of the last few months finally paid off even though Tagliani had to wait five months, since the opening round in Brazil, before making it back to the Firestone Final Six qualifying. In Brazil, Tagliani qualified second on a track no one else in the IRL knew. This weekend in California, a track that has been on the IndyCar schedule for the last five years, the rookie team was in the top four in all sessions.

"It was a great showing for our team obviously," Tagliani said. "Since we made major technical changes on the car at Mid-Ohio, it has been all positive and everything we have tried on this track has worked. I'm very proud of what the team has been able to accomplish and to make major changes in our approach in the middle of the season was a bold move that seems to be paying off. Rob Edwards, Allen McDonald, and the entire FAZZT team have been making great calls, which have really helped the team. I'm very proud to finish the road course qualifying segment on a very good note and hopefully tomorrow we can continue what we've been doing the last couple of weeks."

Australian driver Will Power earned a series-record eighth pole posting the fastest time of the weekend at 1 minute 16.5282 seconds at an average speed of 174.351 km/h. He edged his Team Penske teammate Helio Castroneves (1:16.5652) by only three hundredths of a second. Dario Franchitti, last year's winner from the pole, will share row two with Tagliani. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver stopped the clock at 1:16.9437, while fourth-place Tagliani posted his best lap around the 3.707-kilometer road course in 1 minute 17.2068 seconds for an average speed of 172.817 km/h. Ryan Briscoe, the third member of the Penske Team, qualified fifth ahead of Franchitti's teammate Scott Dixon.

"This is the last road course race of the year and we finished it the same way we started it in Brazil, making it into the Firestone Fast 6," said Rob Edwards, COO/General Manager. "A lot has happened in between but it's a great way to end qualifying on the road course part of the season. What a great way to celebrate the addition of TorcUp as a sponsor for the remainder of the season. Tag's ability to learn a new track was a huge help to the team to continue the development we started in Mid-Ohio. We look forward to the race tomorrow and we'll try to finish on the podium. I think what I'm most proud of the last two weekends at Mid-Ohio and here is that it really shows the strength of our team. It was great to see our car and Tag on the track at Sonoma for the first time and fight with best drivers and teams in the series. It is very rewarding for a first year team."

Round 13 of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar schedule is a 75 laps, 277.973 kilometers race that will be broadcast live Sunday August 22 on TSN2 and VERSUS starting at 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time. Live Timing and Scoring as well as video coverage of all practice sessions, qualifying, and the race are available at www.indycar.com.

Previous Winners in Sonoma
No one has ever repeated as a winner of an IndyCar race at Sonoma since the series first began to compete at the road course located north of the Golden Gate Bridge in 2005. Five winners in five races. Ryan Briscoe won the first-ever pole, but it was Brazilian Tony Kanaan who won the inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma. In 2006, Marco Andretti was victorious ahead of Dario Franchitti, and the following year Scott Dixon was the winner after qualifying fifth. Helio Castroneves finished second that year, but won from the pole in 2008. Franchitti followed suit last season, also with a win from pole position. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver, who had won the pole in 2007, is the only repeat pole winner at Infineon Raceway, but no one as yet repeated as a race winner.

August 22, 2010 Schedule

Alex Tagliani finishes fourth at Mid-Ohio

Lexington, Ohio (August 8, 2010) —FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani collected his best race finish of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series season with a fourth place finish on Sunday at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The Canadian driver led 30 of the 85-lap Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio event to collect a bonus point for most laps led helping to earn 34 points for the day. It is the second time this year that Tagliani has led laps in a race. Back in early June, he led 33 laps on the Texas Motor Speedway oval. Tagliani’s luck turned his way this weekend when General Manager Rob Edwards called him in on lap 22 for his first stop while he was running 15th. Two laps later a full course yellow was caused when EJ Viso and Justin Wilson collided. This sent all the drivers to dive into the pits for their first stop of the race. Tagliani took over first place on lap 26 after being one of the first cars to take their initial stop.

The FAZZT Race Team’s strategy played out well earning their first top five finish of the season. Dario Franchitti held off Will Power in the final laps to cross the finish line with a lead of 0.5234-second over the second-place Penske driver. Helio Castroneves finished third and 2009 Mid-Ohio winner Scott Dixon finished fifth. For Tagliani, this was his fifth top-10 finish at Mid-Ohio in five races. His previous best finish was sixth in 2003 when racing for Rockesports

Rob Edwards, FAZZT Team COO on Sunday’s race
“Well, we’ve had our share of bad luck these last few weeks, so I guess someone was saving all the good luck for today. Full credit goes to the guys in the timing stand. It was a good race strategy coming in early and we had a huge amount of luck when the yellow came out. However, I think we showed by leading the most laps in the race and by running up front for a long while in the race after the first pit stop that we belong up front. We did have a fast car, and we were able to hold our own with Penske and Ganassi and I think on occasions this year, we’ve shown that we can be as competitive as anyone in the series and this was one of those days. We’re very excited about the results. It’s the right reward for all the guys on the team and for all the hard work they’ve been putting in this year. We’re looking forward to Sonoma now.”

Alex Tagliani, on Sunday’s race
“I’m very happy with the result for the team; it was a long time coming. We have a great group of guys. Obviously, we’ve been struggling on the road courses but this weekend the boys did a great job on the car and it paid off. We now have a much more competitive car on the road course. I think it was a good race and it was a very good call from everybody. I think that we called it right since we had such a fast car and we were able to stay in the lead and pull out on every lap. The result is well deserved especially for the boys; they’ve been working hard all year. It’s great for Andre, for our new sponsor CV Logistics, and for Bower & Wilkins who have been with us since the beginning of the year. I’m just so happy with today’s race and for all of our guys.”

The IndyCar Series is now moving on to the West Coast for Round 13 of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series race scheduled to take place the weekend of August 20-22, 2010 at Infineon Raceway in California.

TAGLIANI QUALIFYING RESULTS AT THE HONDA INDY 200 AT MID-OHIO
TAGLIANI POSITION: 14th on the grid (7th in group 2 qualifying)

HONDA INDY 200 AT MID-OHIO FRONT ROW LINE-UP
1st Will Power, Team Penske; 1 m 07.1997 s (194.674 km/h)
2nd Dario Franchitti, Chip Ganassi Racing; 1 m 07.2846 s (194.428 km/h)

Lexington, Ohio (August 7, 2010) - FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani was happy with the progress the team has made so far this weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course as the gap between them and the leading teams seems to be shrinking every time they go on track. In Saturday's qualifying for Sunday's Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, Tagliani miss moving onto round 2 of qualifying by a mere two hundredths of a second. Still, the Canadian driver was pleased on how the No 77 CV Logistics car was handling. He will start round 12 of the IZOD IndyCar Series from row seven on the grid after qualifying 14th. Tagliani paced the 3.634-kilometer Mid-Ohio road course in 1 minute 07.1997 seconds for an average speed of 193.010 km/h.

"We are quite pleased with the way the team has improved the car this weekend, Tagliani said. "Unlike the other teams, we did not come to the series test session. So we had a tall order when we arrived at Mid-Ohio this weekend as our engineers brought different packages to test during practice on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Let's be frank, we have had our share of problems lately on road course, but the radical changes to our suspension packages improved the car. We did step up our program and it is paying off so far. We finally got back to the point where we only have to make minor adjustments rather than go from one extreme to the other. The whole team is happy about the way the car is responding positively to these changes.

"We did not make it to the second round of qualifying today, but we were very close, only two hundredths of a second from sixth place in our qualifying group, and only five tenths from Dario Franchitti, the fastest driver in group two. The team made changes between practice and qualifying, but we were a bit too aggressive. For the race, we are looking for a results in the top ten."

Penske Racing driver Will Power, who crashed during morning practice, came back strong to win his seventh pole of the season during Saturday's qualifying session. The Australian edged Dario Franchitti by only eighth hundredths of a second on the last lap of the final Firestone Fast 6 session. Power earned the top spot for the 85-laps race with a best lap of 1 minute 07.1997 for an average speed of 194.674 km/h. Takuma Sato posted his best-ever IndyCar qualifying results with a third place on the grid. He will start next to Ryan Hunter-Reay. Scott Dixon, the race defending champion and winner of two of the three IndyCar races at Mid-Ohio, will start on the inside of row three next to Helio Castroneves.

Drivers will return on track Sunday morning for the final 30-minute warm-up session beginning at 9:15 a.m. Round 12 of 17 of the IZOD IndyCar Series schedule, an 85-lap - 308.890 km race - will be broadcast live on TSN2 starting with the pre-race show at 2:30 p.m. ET. Live Timing and Scoring as well as video coverage of all practice sessions, qualifying, and the race are available at www.indycar.com <http://www.indycar.com/> .

Rob Edwards, FAZZT Team COO on Saturday's Qualifying
"We are much happier with today's results than the last few road course races. We missed the fast 12 by two hundredths of a second and at the end of the day, we're on the wrong side of the line but we're a lot closer with the balance of the car. I think we've learned a lot this weekend and have made quality progress. We are a one-car team in our first season and we're bound to have a few trials along the way. I'm very proud of the job Allen (McDonald) and the engineers did, they came back after Edmonton and did a lot of thinking and came up with some new ideas to try. I think our being closer to the pace and more competitive this weekend is a credit to the engineers we've got, their hard work and dedication, and to Alex for working with them very diligently to answer some of the questions we had coming in."

Previous Mid-Ohio Race Winners
Coming off his win at Edmonton 15 days ago, Scott Dixon comes to one of his most successful tracks. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver is the defending race winner having earned victories in two of the three races at Mid-Ohio and placing third in 2008. In 2008, Ryan Briscoe won the event and achieved second in 2009.

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (July 25, 2010) - It was disappointing end to the 2010 edition of the Honda Indy Edmonton for the FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani who started the race from a 19th grid position on home soil and had made up six positions by the halfway point of the race. Following a caution period, Tagliani saw an opening on the lap 52 restart to make a pass on Andretti Autosport's Tony Kanaan in Turn 1 of the 3.154 -kilometer temporary airport circuit. Contact between the two competitors following the overtaking maneuver quickly brought the race to an end for the no.77 Bowers & Wilkins Hot Wheels machine when secondary contact with Mario Romancini caused damage the Fazzt car's front left suspension.

"It was an unfortunate incident for the no.77 Bowers & Wilkins Hot Wheels car," said Tagliani who was credited with a 23rd place finish. "Our first stint was a good one. We went long saving fuel and doing the best thing with what we had. I think we could have finished in the top ten but it was just an unfortunate incident in Turn 1 that ended progress. We made up six positions and the Fazzt guys did a really good job. Our strategy was good, our car was better than it had been so I think a top-ten finish was in our reach."

"I think Turn 1 was the best place to pass. I got an opportunity and I took it," added Tagliani about the on track incident that ended his day. "I think Tony (Kanaan) braked on the inside of Turn 1 and left the rubber line wide open. When I exited Turn 1, I felt like I left him a lot of room and stayed close to the wall. Then I felt a touch from behind on the right rear, got spun around, and then got hit on the left side. I'm disappointed. The whole Fazzt team is disappointed. This isn't the way we wanted things to go here in Canada. We had a realistic expectation coming in but didn't leave with the results we had hoped for. This teams works hard and we'll regroup and look to do better at the next few races."

In a controversial end of race, Scott Dixon won Round 11 of the IZOD IndyCar race held Sunday at the Edmonton City Center Airport circuit. The win by the Chip Ganassi Racing driver ended a Will Power two-race win streak. The Team Penske driver, who won back-to-back races at Watkins Glen and Toronto last week, was the Edmonton Indy race-defending champion. Starting from the pole, Power dominated the race for the first 77 of the 95-lap event before being overtaken by his teammate Helio Castroneves on lap 78. With two laps to go following a full course yellow, race officials penalized Castroneves on the restart for blocking his teammate Power. Even though the Brazilian driver crossed the finish line first, he was pushed back to 10th place with the penalty assessed. Dario Franchitti finished third ahead of Ryan Briscoe and Ryan Hunter-Reay. Paul Tracy of Toronto finished sixth after starting 15th on the grid.

TAGLIANI SATURDAY QUALIFYING RESULTS
TAGLIANI POSITION: 19th
TAGLIANI BEST TIME & SPEED: 62.5240 seconds - Average speed of 182.823 km/h

HONDA INDY EDMONTON FRONT ROW LINE-UP
1st Will Power, Team Penske; 60.7126 seconds (188.991 km/h)
2nd Ryan Briscoe, Team Penske; 60.7890 seconds (188.040 km/h)

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (July 24, 2010) - It turned out to be difficult day at the Honda Indy Edmonton for the FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani who qualified 10th in his group session and will start the race from a 19th starting position on the grid in Sunday's race on home soil. The team has been working to find a set up that would work on the bumpy 3.154 -kilometer temporary airport circuit but wasn't able to improve past their competitive group session after posting a time 1 minute 02.6257 seconds for an average speed of 182.6605 km/h aboard the no.77 Bowers & Wilkins Hot Wheels machine.

"It wasn't so much that the group one draw was so competitive it's that we just weren't competitive like we should be. It's no secret that we've been struggling to find a set up all weekend. We're a bit lost at the moment with a car that has a lot of understeer, is very nervous with some push. I just feels really unstable and just doesn't have any bit even with the Firestone red tires on. The way the car feels on the track, I would have been very surprised if we had made it out of our group to battle for the Firestone Fast 6. We're not going to give up. The Fazzt guys will keep working to find something to make the no.77 Bower & Wilkins Hot Wheels car better and we'll also try to be creative with our strategy for the race. Until that checkered flag drops we're going to fight."

Team Penske paced the Firestone Fast 6 qualifying with Will Power earning his sixth pole of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar season with a time of 1 minute 0.7126 seconds Helio Castroneves will start next to his Penske teammate after qualifying with a time of 1 minute 0.7890 seconds (188.04058 km/hr). Target Chip Ganassi teammates Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti will make up the second row on the grid for the start of the Honda Indy Edmonton while Penske's third driver Ryan Briscoe and KV Racing Technology driver E.J.Viso round out the Firestone Fast Six group. Fellow Canadian Paul Tracy make his start in his KV Racing machine in 15th place.

Round 11 of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar schedule is an 95-lap, 299.659-kilometer event that will be broadcasted live this Sunday July 25 on TSN and VERSUS starting at 5:00 p.m. E.T. Toronto, July 18, 2010 - In an action packed race interrupted by six full course cautions caused by several race contacts, including the last one involving Canadian Alex Tagliani and South African Tomas Scheckter on lap 74 of 85 of the Honda Indy Toronto held Sunday, Will Power scored his fourth win of the season to increase his lead in the IZOD IndyCar Series championship. Starting from ninth on the grid, Tagliani kept the pace of the leaders throughout the event running often in the top 10, and was up to seventh place when his Bowers & Wilkins Hot Wheels Dallara was harpooned by Scheckter who was trying to move past him as they both entered turn one of the Toronto 2,816-kilometer street course. When the officials finally pulled Tagliani's car from the tire wall, he drove back to the pits where his FAZZT Race Team crew changed to nose cone section. He returned to the track one lap down to finish 17th overall.

"We didn't have the fastest car today but we kept on passing cars on the track," Tagliani said after the race. "The FAZZT team could have probably picked up a fine sixth place had it not been for that deplorable contact with Scheckter (Tomas). He used my car to make the corner. He isn't in the championship race and not fighting for points. That's not the way to behave. Aside from that incident, I must say that my guys worked hard and we were in top ten most of the weekend. We will regroup and try again in Edmonton. I'm happy to have another chance to show off the Hot Wheels car and look for at least one strong finish in Canada."

Power's win was his eighth in the series and Roger Penske's 150th victory in open wheel racing. The Australian crossed the finish line 1.2757 seconds ahead of Chip Ganassi's Dario Franchitti. Ryan Hunter-Reay drove his Andretti Autosport entry to third place. Power took the final lead of the race following the fifth restart of the race on lap 72 by moving past polesitter Justin Wilson who had led the race twice for 32 laps. Wilson, who had a dominant car, spun his car a few corners later to drop to 14th overall. He managed to regroup by passing seven cars in the final 13 laps to finish seventh. There were six lead changes among five drivers. Twelve of the 26 starters finished on the lead lap, and seven retired from the race.

Point Standings
Following his win in Toronto, Team Penske driver Will Power increased its lead in the championship standings. He now totals 377 points, with Dario Franchitti 42 points back in second place. Scott Dixon is still third with 299, seven more than Ryan Briscoe. Tagliani is still in 14th place with 182 points.

The 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series will be moving West across Canada this week for the July 23-25 Honda Indy Edmonton, Round 11 of the 2010 schedule.

TAGLIANI SATURDAY QUALIFYING RESULTS
TAGLIANI POSITION: 9th
TAGLIANI BEST TIME & SPEED: 60.9996 seconds - Average speed of 166.686 km/h

HONDA INDY TORONTO FRONT ROW LINE-UP
1st Justin Wilson, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing; 60.2710 seconds (168.702 km/h)
2nd Will Power, Team Penske; 60.4563 seconds (168.184 km/h)

Toronto, July 17, 2010 - Alex Tagliani was ninth quickest in Saturday's qualifying for Sunday's IndyCar Series second running of the Honda Indy Toronto. The Canadian driver was fifth fastest in the opening round of the second group to qualify and move on to the following session involving the 12 fastest of the 26-car field. In that second round, the No.77 Bowers & Wilkins Hot Wheels entry posted its best lap of the weekend lapping the 2.816-kilometer street course in 60.9996 seconds for an average speed of 166.686 km/h. Unfortunately for the FAZZT driver, his lap time was 15 hundredths of a second short of making the Firestone Fast 6. Tagliani will start the Honda Indy Toronto from the inside of row 5 in ninth spot.

"We missed by just a little bit on set up and the car is just not quite where we wanted it to be," Tagliani said. "We were missing some grip, and just two tenths of a second is enough to miss the Firestone Fast 6. It's unfortunate and really disappointing. I would have loved to have crack that top 6 because we are in Canada, but I have to remember not to put so much pressure on our shoulders and just look at the bright side. We're starting in the top-9 and up there with the best teams. So for a first year team we're really doing well and I have a lot of faith in my Fazzt team and engineers to find something to make the car faster for the race. We're all really looking forward to Sunday and ready to put on a show for our Canadian fans."

Dreyer & Reinbold Racing driver Justin Wilson broke a string of nine consecutive Penske Racing drivers' poles by winning the Honda Indy Toronto top starting position on Saturday. With a blazing record lap time of 60.2710 seconds posted in the Firestone Fast 6 qualifying session, the British driver won his first-ever IndyCar Series pole in 43 starts. The 6-foot, 3-inch tall driver edged Team Penske driver Will Power (60.4563 seconds) by a little more than 185 thousandths of a second to give his team its second IndyCar pole, its first since 2002. It is also Wilson's second Toronto pole having earned one in Champ Car in 2006. The second row will be shared by Helio Castroneves (60.8158 s), and Ryan Hunter-Reay (60.8397 sec), and defending race winner Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon will fill row three.

Round 10 of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar schedule is an 85-lap, 239.389-kilometer event that will be broadcasted live this Sunday, July 18 on TSN2 and ABC starting at 12:30 p.m. ET. Live Timing and Scoring as well as video coverage of Sunday's warm-up and race are available at www.indycar.com.

Previous Winners in Toronto
Nine of the 26 drivers entered in the event have previously competed at Toronto in CART or Champ Car-sanctioned events. Paul Tracy, with two wins and pole, leads the pack with 16 starts, Alex Tagliani is second with seven, and Dario Franchitti, two poles and a win, comes in third place with six. Justin Wilson, with a pole and a win, is next with five, followed by a pair of Brazilians, Helio Castroneves, and Tony Kanaan who has a win, with four starts each. Scott Dixon, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Will Power, winner in 2007, with two starts each round up the list.

Watkins Glen, New York, July 4, 2010 - Making his first race start from 19th position on the grid at the famed Watkins Glen International road course, FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani could not do much to improve his position during the race. Fuel strategy was the key in today's race. The team brought Alex in for his first stop on lap 5 in the hopes that an alternate strategy would play in their favor. The strategy appeared to benefit Alex when he moved to third place for the middle stint of the race due to the pit strategy the team employed with their early race stop. A yellow on lap 38 set the team up for their final stop on lap 41. The Canadian driver pitted in 13th position and exited in 15th but dropped to 18th at the races restart on lap 43. He regained one position in the final 17 laps to finish the race in 17th position in Sunday's Round 9 of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series

Will Power was dominant during the 6th running of the Camping World Grand Prix at the Glen, winning from the pole and leading the most laps to edge his Team Penske teammate Ryan Briscoe by 1.2181 seconds at the conclusion of the 60 laps/328.32 kilometers event. With his third win of the 2010 season, the Australian driver remains the only multi-time winner this year. Power also became the first driver to ever win from the pole at Watkins Glen in the IndyCar Series era, and the first Penske driver to win at the Glen since Rick Mears took the checkered flag for the Captain back in 1981 in the old CART Series. Dario Franchitti finished third in Sunday's race in his Chip Ganassi Racing Dallara, followed by Raphael Matos and Mario Moraes. Twenty-two of the 25 cars that started the race finished on the lead lap.

"Today was a tough day," said Tagliani. "We haven't had our best weekend and the entire FAZZT team were hoping that we could pull out a good result with race strategy but that just didn't happen. Rob (Edwards) and the guys tried to do their magic but when the yellow came out (on lap 38), we were just done. At that point, I just tried to keep out, gain some positions, and gain some points to help us improve in the Championship hunt. I'm looking forward to the next races in Canada and I know we will recover and come back strong in Toronto."

Rob Edwards, FAZZT Chief Operating Officer, on the Camping World Grand Prix Practice:
"This was not our best weekend this year. We tried something with the strategy and in the middle of the race it looked like it might yield something for us but the 2nd yellow of the race came on absolutely the worst lap for our strategy. After that it was just about running the race to the end and picking up what points we could."

Point Standings
Team Penske driver Will Power remains the leader with 327 points, with Dario Franchitti 32 points back in second place. Scott Dixon, who finished eighth, is now third with 287, seven more than Ryan Briscoe. Tagliani is currently in 14th place in the standings with 169 points.

The IZOD IndyCar Series will move north of the American border to Canada for the next two events starting with the Honda Indy Toronto, which takes place July 16-18, 2010, and the Honda Indy Edmonton the following weekend of July 23-25.

Newton, Iowa, June 20, 2010 - FAZZT Race Team was hoping for a better outcome to close out the first oval track portion of the 2010 schedule, but Canadian driver Alex Tagliani wound up in 12th place, two laps behind race winner Tony Kanaan in round 8 of the IZOD IndyCar Series held Sunday on the 1.408-kilometer Iowa Speedway. Starting sixth, Tagliani maintained his position until lap 22 when he ran into back markers that sent him back five spots to 11th place. Then, with his car going away in heavy traffic on a short track, it became difficult to overcome the gap that separated him from the leaders.

Tony Kanaan returned to victory lane for the first time since May 28, 2008 in Richmond, Virginia when he edged then none other than his Brazilian fellow countryman Helio Castroneves, the same rival he beat to the wire again this Sunday at the Iowa Corn Indy 250. In a no holding back event where seven drivers exchanged the lead 16 times in the 250-lap, 352.043-kilometer race, Kanaan drove by Castroneves with 10 laps to go to beat the Penske driver by 4.203 seconds at the wire and give Andretti Autosport its second win of the year. Venezuelan EJ Viso finish third to record his best-ever IndyCar career finish. The biggest deception of the day was for Dario Franchitti who led the most laps in the race only to see a transmission gear issue end his day with less than 50 laps to go in the race.

"Well, it was exactly what I was mentioning yesterday that the biggest challenge in today's race was going to be getting the car consistent over the full run", Tagliani said after the race. "We started the race consistent but as the runs went on, the balance of the car went away and we picked up understeer. In the first stop, we made a tire pressure adjustment and it helped for a while but then the balance went away again. That was the biggest downfall of the whole race. So, we were continually chasing the car. This is a difficult track because as you try to adjust the balance you start to lose in other areas and you just keep dropping back. I do feel like we learned a little bit today about what the car needs, so we will take that information and put it in our file for next year. Now we will look forward to getting back on track at Watkins Glen."

Rob Edwards, FAZZT Chief Operating Officer, on the Iowa Corn Indy 250 Race:
"It was a long day but it was great that we got the race in today with the forecast having been at a 70% chance of rain. I was told before I came today that the fans come out in force for this event at Iowa and they definitely did. For ourselves, we learned a lot that will benefit us when we come back to Iowa next year and will also help for the remaining ovals this season. My message to Alex and the team before every race is to maximize their efforts and get as many points as we can and we got valuable points today for the championship. Now we're looking forward to getting back to the shop and getting to work on the cars for the upcoming road course portion of the season."

In the overall point standings, Will Power, who finished fifth today ahead of Scott Dixon, retakes first place with 274 points, 11 more than Dixon in second place. Dario Franchitti drops two spots to third overall with 260. Fourth place now belongs to Helio Castroneves, nine points back from Franchitti. Ryan Briscoe is fifth overall with 240 points, while Tagliani is now 13th with 156 points.

The IZOD IndyCar Series has just concluded a four oval race sequence that began on May 1st at Kansas Speedway. Teams and drivers will enjoy a 12-day break before beginning a series of five road and urban course races at Watkins Glen, New York the weekend of July 4.

Alex Tagliani will start the Iowa race from the third row

TAGLIANI 4-LAP QUALIFYING RESULTS
TAGLIANI POSITION: 6h
TAGLIANI TIME & SPEED: 1 m 11.1834 s - Average speed of 291.054 km/h
IOWA CORN INDY 250 FRONT ROW STARTING LINE-UP:
1st Will Power, Team Penske; 1 m 10.9925 s (291.834 km/h)
2nd Scott Dixon, Chip Ganassi Racing; 1 m 10.9945 s (291.825 lm/h)

Newton, Iowa, June 19, 2010 - The FAZZT Race Team rebounded in spectacular fashion during Saturday's IZOD IndyCar Series Round 8 qualifying session at Iowa Speedway when Alex Tagliani posted a four-lap average speed of 291.054 km/h good for sixth place on the grid for Sunday's race. The Canadian driver will start the 250-lap, 352.043 kilometers race from the outside of row three next to recent Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti. With a combined four-lap time of 1 minute 11.1834 seconds, Tagliani was only three thousandths of a second from Franchitti's fifth place time and 0.1910 seconds from the pole. The first season FAZZT Race Team has qualified six times in the top 8 in its eight races so far this season.

Penske Team driver Will Power won his fourth pole of 2010, his first on an oval track this year, with a four-lap time of 1 minute 10,9925 seconds for a average speed of 291.834 km/h. He will lead the field alongside Scott Dixon from Chip Ganassi Racing who came within two thousandths of a second to score his third Iowa pole. Row two will be filled by Andretti Autosport driver Marco Andretti (1m 11.1230 s), and Penske driver Helio Castroneves (1m 11.1705 s).

"The team has shown their strength again today," said Tagliani. "I think our competitiveness on the ovals is a pleasant surprise for all of us. The only oval where we've had a problem was Texas and other than that we've been pretty consistent on our pace at the ovals. I keep repeating myself, but the quality of the program, the engineers, and the preparation by the crew are flawless. This weekend, we come to a track I've never been to before, and within two sessions we're on pace, and we have a good qualifying which is very impressive. From what the engineers have said, this track changes a bit and it gets harder each year to have more than one groove to race on. The race tomorrow will be about getting consistency in the car and doing full segments on the tires and keeping the balance of the car consistent. This is a short track and you have to run in the lower part of it to make it harder for your opponent to get by you, as they will have to take the outside line. So our hope for tomorrow is to be consistent over the whole segment and I think that will be the key to a good race."

Rob Edwards, FAZZT Chief Operating Officer, on the Iowa Corn Indy 250 Qualifying:
"We are very happy with our qualifying effort especially since the race at Texas didn't go as planned. The guys bounced back, Allen and the engineers did an excellent job preparing for Iowa, as did Alex. This is a rookie track for Alex and he did a great job in the two practice sessions learning this track, as it is a tricky place. Alex worked very methodically with his engineers and ended up with a good car. We're happy with where we've qualified and are looking forward to the race tomorrow."

Dario Franchitti is the defending race winner, winning two of three races in Iowa. In 2008, Dan Wheldon won the event while Franchitti was competing in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

FAZZT Race Team News Bulletin from Texas Motor Speedway

Tagliani finishes 18th following a late race pit stop incident

Fort Worth, Texas - June 5, 2010 - FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani finished 18th overall in Saturday night's Round 7 of the IZOD IndyCar held under the spotlights at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth Texas. Starting from the 10th row after qualifying 20th on Friday, the Canadian driver led the field for 34 laps past mid-point of the race while he was running off sequence in the pit stop strategy. His penultimate pit stop was costly when a team member was involved in an incident while Tagliani's car was leaving the pits. Tagliani stopped but stalled the car when he became aware of the incident. A drive through penalty was issued for leaving the pit box with fuel hose engaged did not help his case. He finished three laps down.

Ryan Briscoe won the Firestone 550K, edging Danica Patrick at the end of a grueling 228-lap affair. Marco Andretti finished third, followed by Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti. Franchitti's fifth place was good enough though to give him the lead in the overall standings ahead of Will Power.

"We had a little issue in qualifying Friday and the guys worked on it last night and fixed the problem," Tagliani said. "Once I got out front, I had a great car and the Bowers and Wilkins #77 car was absolutely amazing. But, the racing is just so competitive that you just can't make it up when you start from the back."

TAGLIANI TIME & SPEED: 1 m 38.5858 s - Average speed of 342.027 km/h
FIRESTONE 500K FRONT ROW STARTING LINE-UP:

2nd Dario Franchitti, Chip Ganassi Racing; 1 m 37.3332 s (346.428 lm/h)

*Media Note: There will be one final practice held this evening from 8:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. ET

Fort Worth, Texas (June 4, 2010) - Alex Tagliani was unable to repeat the qualifying feats of his last two races in Kansas and Indianapolis, qualifying his FAZZT Race Team Dallara 20th overall in Friday's session held at the Texas Motor Speedway 2.414-kilometer banked oval. The Canadian driver will start Saturday night's Firestone 550k, a 228-lap race from the 10th row, next to Vitor Meira. Tagliani averaged 342.027 km/h during his four-lap qualifying run. His total lap time of 1 minute 38.5858 seconds was 1.2583 seconds off the pace of the polesitter.

Penske Racing's Ryan Briscoe captured the pole with a four-lap time of 1 m 37.3275 s at an average speed of 346.447 km/h. He will start next to Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver missed the pole by only five thousandths of second. Will Power and Scott Dixon will share row two.

"It's just a shame because I think the car is pretty good but somehow we can't find the speed," mentioned Tagliani. "We're going to keep looking until the warm up tonight (Friday) and see if we can find some speed. We didn't have it at all today and couldn't really draft or pass in practice this afternoon. In our qualifying, we were flat all the way around and that was all we had so that is disappointing. But we're going to continue to work hard and not throw in the towel. We will work tonight to sort some things out and see if we can improve the car and find extra speed. We'll look at everything and see if there is something little wrong that is just flying under the radar and if we can find it, then we should be alright in the race tomorrow."

In the morning practice, Scott Dixon was quickest with a lap time of 24.2066 seconds (348.240 km/h). Second fastest was Ryan Briscoe, followed by Will Power and EJ Viso. Dan Wheldon rounded out the top five. Tagliani was 12th fastest, two tenths of a second from the leader.

Rob Edwards, team Chief Operating Officer, on the Firestone 550K Qualifying:
"Today is obviously disappointing as this is not what we've been used to this year. Just like Barber where we didn't qualify well (21st), we are hoping to come back strong in the race. We'll make sure we stay out of trouble back there and try to move our way to the front."

INDY 500 RACE WINNER: DARIO FRANCHITTI (Chip Ganassi Racing)

Indianapolis, IN, May 30, 2010 - In a race that was played in the pit lane and where many on track incidents changed the course of the race, FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani stayed out of trouble to finish 10th in the Indy 500 race held Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Starting from fifth on the grid, the Canadian driver ran in the top four in the first segment of the race. After the first stop, Tagliani was caught out high and dropped back in the field, but ran continually in the top 15 throughout the majority of the 200-lap race to finish 10th behind polesitter Helio Castroneves of Penske Racing, but ahead of Andretti Autosport driver Tony Kanaan who ran as high as second after starting 33rd.

Following a quiet month of May for Dario Franchitti, the driver from Scotland dominated the 94th edition of the Indy 500 moving past polesitter Helio Castroneves on the first lap to lead 155 laps on his way to his second Indy 500 win. The Chip Ganassi Racing Team driver crossed the finish line under a yellow caution flag caused by Mike Conway who ran over Ryan Hunter-Reay's car on the final lap of the race. Panther Racing driver Dan Wheldon finished second for a second-year in a row ahead of Alex Lloyd of Dale Coyne Racing and Scott Dixon, Franchitti's teammate. Danica Patrick came home in fifth place ahead of her Andretti Autosport teammate Marco Andretti. Justin Wilson, Helio Castroneves and Alex Tagliani round up the top 10. Fourteen of the 33 starters finished on the lead lap, and 13 drivers retired from the race.

"The team did a fantastic job and the Bowers and Wilkins car was quick, Tagliani said. "On one restart, I guess I turned it wrong and Saavedra (Sébastien) didn't give me a lot of room out there even though he was a lap down, and I got into the marbles and lost 10 positions. Once you're stuck back there and with the downforce level we were running it was very difficult to get back to the front. The team gave me a good car. We were hoping to win it, but we were pretty aggressive with our downforce levels if we wanted to stay up front. It just got too hard when we dropped back in the pack with our downforce to get back to the front. The team did a fantastic job all month long and I think we can leave this place with our heads high and go to Texas and score more points and move up in the championship board."

As for Tagliani's teammate, Brazilian Bruno Junqueira, he lost control of his No. 33 Bowers & Wilkins/TorcUp Canada FAZZT Race Team Dallara when the rear of the car got loose coming out of turn 2.

"I really don't know what happened as I was being very conservative," commented Junqueira. "I maybe came a little bit too high in Turn 2, I just don't know I lost the car. I really don't know because everything was feeling so good and it's just so disappointing."

Rob Edwards, General Manager, on the Indy 500:
"It's been a disappointing day from what we hoped and where we started. I don't know yet what happened with Bruno's car as I haven't had a chance to chat with him since I was calling Alex's race. Tag was strong early on and lost some ground early on in the restarts but the guys on the stand did a great job on the fuel mileage and figured out what we needed to do to get the #77 car home. We managed to salvage a top-ten out of it. It was disappointing on the day but when you look at the two weeks as a whole it's been an excellent effort from the whole team and we're happy with that and hopefully we'll stay up there in points and move on to Texas."

Drivers will only have 4 days off before Round 7. The IndyCar Series returns to action next Friday and Saturday, June 4-5, at the Texas Motor Speedway. To learn more FAZZT Race Team and Alex Tagliani, log on at www.fazztraceteam.com

POLE DAY RESULTS
TAGLIANI POSITION: 5th
TAGLIANI TIME: 2 minutes, 39.0177 seconds for an average speed of 364.338 km/h
INDY 500 FRONT ROW STARTING LINE-UP:
1st Helio Castroneves, Team Penske; 2 m, 37.9154 seconds (366.883 km/h)
2nd Will Power, Team Penske; 2 m, 38.1876 seconds (366.250 lm/h)
3rd Dario Franchitti, Chip Ganassi Racing; 2 m, 38.5970 seconds (365.304 km/h)

Indianapolis, IN (May 22, 2010) - Penske Racing driver Helio Castroneves (366.883 km/h) will lead of the field of 33 drivers at the 94th running of the Indy 500 for the fourth time of his career on Sunday, May 30 ahead of teammate Will Power (366.250 lm/h) and Chip Ganassi Racing driver Dario Franchitti (365.304 km/h). But the biggest surprise of the month of May comes from Canadian driver Alex Tagliani who will start his second Indy 500 from the middle of row two, next to Team Penske driver Ryan Briscoe who was fourth quickest during the 90-minute Pole Day Fast 9 Shootout held late Saturday afternoon at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. On the outside of Row 2, next to the upstart FAZZT Race Team car will be Chip Ganassi driver Scott Dixon. Canadian driver Jacques Villeneuve won the 1995 Indy 500 from fifth place, while Scott Goodyear finished second from fifth in 1997.

During the 90-minute Shootout, the question was: could FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani do the magic once again following his first segment morning prowess where he was third overall? On his first attempt in the Shootout, Tagliani jumped to second place behind Helio Castroneves, but he was eventually overtaken by Will Power, Dario Franchitti and Ryan Briscoe to finish fifth overall with a combine lap time of 2 minutes, 39.0177 seconds for an average speed of 364.338 km/h. The FAZZT Racing Team is now playing with the Big Boys of the IndyCar establishment by splitting the second row.

First Segment Report
Fourth in line in the Qualifying Order following Friday night's blind draw, Tagliani drove his way into the Fast 9 Shootout early on Pole Day when he posted a four-lap time of 2 minutes, 39.0163 seconds that placed him atop the leader board ahead of Castroneves. However, the Team Penske driver decided at mid-afternoon to erase his time and have a go at the top pick for the pit stall on race day. According to the rules, pit box choice is awarded according to the first segment results. He succeeded in his attempt by bettering his time to 2 minutes, 38.7485 seconds to take first place. His teammate Will Power also decided to make an attempt for the top pick, but failed by 0.2539 seconds. However, he managed to squeeze ahead of the FAZZT Race Team driver by only 0.0139 second. All the while, Tagliani, now third, sat in his garage waiting for the Shootout that was to begin at 4:30 p.m.

"I'm so proud of this team," said Tagliani. "The group of engineers and the crew has just done a tremendous job on this Bowers and Wilkins car. We spent some time today on the front row and ended up fifth here and to have this result at Indianapolis is just amazing. To be able to fight with the Penske's and Ganassi's of the IZOD IndyCar Series and have the opportunity to battle against them is just a huge honor. I'm so proud to be the driver and the Bowers and Wilkins car is going to start fifth in the Indianapolis 500. That is just an amazing accomplishment for this team."

Rob Edwards, General Manager, on Qualifying:
"There is such a mix of emotions after sitting on the front row for three hours during the day but the big picture, for a new team to come here the first year and Qualifying in the middle of the second row and basically only be beat by Penske and Dario Franchitti from Ganassi is incredible. Really, the whole week has just gone fantastic. I'm just very proud today of the group of guys that we have built this team with and that are here at FAZZT. The achievements today are the achievements of every single person on this team."

In 2009, Tagliani made his 1st Indy 500 start. He started 33rd and finished 11th earning honors as the 2009 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year. During his career, the Canadian driver has made 32 oval starts with a best finish of 2nd at Twin Ring Motegi, Japan in 2002, and has scored 3 pole positions on oval tracks; Brazil in 2000; Fontana, California in 2001 and Milwaukee in 2003.

FRIDAY PRACTICE RESULTS
TAGLIANI POSITION: 3rd
TAGLIANI TIME: 39,7960 seconds at 363.957 km/h
TAGLIANI LAPS: 21 laps
FAST DRIVER / TIME: Helio Castroneves, Team Penske; 39.7250 seconds at 364.609 km/h

Indianapolis, IN (May 21, 2010) - Canadian driver Alex Tagliani concluded in brilliant fashion his week-long free practice session leading to Saturday's Indy 500 Qualifying Pole Day by posting the third quickest laps of Day 7 of practice. Satisfied with the work done by Tagliani, the team ordered him back to the pits after he posted a lap time of 39.7960 seconds (363.957 km/h) around the 4.023-kilometer Indianapolis Motor Speedway. His lap time placed him then at the top of the leader board. Alex has run a total of 96 laps this month. He has been in the top-four speeds, three of the last four days.

However, with two hours still left in the session, a couple of drivers improved on their time to move past the FAZZT Race Team driver. Brazilian Helio Castroneves was quickest of the day for the fourth time this week with a lap time at 39.7250 seconds. The defending race champion and three-time Indy 500 race winner lapped the track at an average speed of 364,609 km/h. His Team Penske teammate Will Power was second fastest with a time of 39.7476 seconds, only seven hundredths of a second better than Tagliani. Scott Dixon was fourth ahead of Mario Moraes.

"I feel like I'm sounding like a broken record but it was another perfect day," mentioned Tagliani. "It's been a dream week so far. The B & W boys have done such a great job. Last night, I was in the garage by myself waiting for an interview and looking at the car, just going around and looking at every detail. I had to write my boys a note and tell them 'Thank you so much for building this baby' because just looking at the car leaves me speechless. I know that here, in this particular place where every tenth of a mile per hour counts and all the little bits and pieces on the car are so important so what we are doing here (being fast) is because of way the crew has built the car so I wanted to show them my appreciation. We know we have a chance to be in the fast nine tomorrow and if we have a clear run, we should be ok. Hopefully that is what happens in qualifying tomorrow and at the end of the day we'll see how far we can push the car to be on the front row and maybe even the pole."

Rob Edwards, General Manager, on today's practice:
"It has been another good day for the B & W team. Yet again, we had a good plan from Allen (McDonald, Chief Engineer) and all of the engineers. We executed what we had on plan and Don (Oldenburg, Crew Chief) and the boys did a great job with the car. I think we're in good shape for tomorrow, but we'll see what happens. As a first year team, if we can be the top-nine tomorrow we'll be thrilled and anything beyond that will be a bonus. That is what our focus is on right now, to make sure at the end of segment one, we are in the top-nine. Today was all about working on qualifying and getting to our qualifying spec and being happy with that. We had a couple issues yesterday that we wanted to check out today. We were really happy that the weather held off today and we got to check those issues out. Everything worked the way we wanted it to work and hopefully it will stay that way for tomorrow.

This will be the inaugural year for the new Indianapolis 500 Qualifications format. On Pole Day at 4 p.m., the top-nine qualifiers will proceed to a second segment as a shoot-out for the Pole Position.

Indy 500 Qualifying 101
There are two scheduled days of qualifications (weather permitting): Saturday, May 22 also called Pole Day, and Sunday, May 23 called Bump Day. The qualifying order for the initial qualifying attempt on Pole Day is determined during a blind draw of all entered cars on Friday at 6:15 p.m. ET.

A complete qualifying run at Indy is a 10-mile (16.093 km) run or four laps around the 2.5-mile (4.023 km) oval. A qualifying run can be called off if a team member waves off a yellow flag before the final lap is completed. Each car can make three qualifying attempts per day.

There are two segments on Pole Day, segment 1: from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. To fill the field on Pole Day, positions 1 through 24 go to the fastest 24 qualifiers. Once the 24 spots are filled, bumping will occur until 4 p.m. to determine the fastest 24 qualifiers of the day. At 4:30 p.m., cars in positions 1 to 9 erase their times and advance to a 90-minute segment 2 qualifying session to reset the top 9 positions. All nine drivers are guaranteed to start no worse than ninth. Pole winner gets $175,000, second $75,000, and third $50,000.

Positions 25 through 33 are available on the second day of qualifying (Bump Day) to those who have not yet qualified. Once the nine spots are filled, bumping begins starting with the slowest car, regardless of which day it qualified. Championship points are awarded to all qualifiers in decreasing order from the pole.

TAGLIANI LAPS: 16 laps
FAST DRIVER / TIME: Tony Kanaan, Andretti Autosport; 39.6870 seconds at 364.958 km/h

Indianapolis, IN (May 20, 2010) - Rain once again slowed down a portion of the on-track activities on Day 6 practice session leading to Saturday's Pole Day Qualifying for the 94th Edition of the Indy 500, scheduled for Sunday May 30. However, Canadian driver Alex Tagliani kept on tracking as he posted the eighth quickest time of the day for his third consecutive Top-10 of the week. The FAZZT Race Team driver recorded his best time around the 4.023-km Indianapolis Motor Speedway on lap 15 at 39.8290 km for an average speed of 363.082 km/h, a tad slower than his best time of Wednesday.

Brazilian Tony Kanaan dominated the field of 37 cars that took to the speedway with a lap time of 39.6870 seconds. The Andretti Autosport driver averaged 364.958 km/h. Canadian Paul Tracy was second fastest with a time of 39.7993 seconds, followed by Japanese driver Hideki Mutoh. Marco Andretti and Dan Wheldon completed to Top-5.

"It was just another super day," Tagliani said. "The car has just been great. We did some running by ourselves today and we saw that the car is quick. We definitely have a shot this weekend during Qualifying so we just have to baby this thing around and make sure we keep it all together. The B & W crew is just doing a great job and giving me an outstanding car. It is one of the fastest cars here so far so everyone is very excited. We have one more day to wait until we put it on the track and try to make it all happen for Qualifying. I think we will get out whenever we draw for Saturday because our car seems to be good anytime of the day so whatever we draw we go out and put a lap on the board and see what everyone else does."

Rob Edwards, General Manager, on today's practice:
"Well it's been a good day again. We had lots of speed and we executed our plan once again. We were a little disappointed with the weather; it didn't really work with us. We were hoping to get back out and run a few more laps since we are on neck for the least laps run this month. That wasn't intentional today; it was yesterday, but not today. But, given that, we're happy with the speed of the car and the shape we are in heading into Qualifying. I hope that we'll get a little more running tomorrow. If Andre (Azzi, team owner) arrives before the draw at 6 p.m., we will have him do the pull for us if not, we'll draw straws to see who gets the honor. Our Qualifying plan will depend on what position we draw. With the new Qualifying format there will only be five hours to get your run in and based on the number of cars entered it will take three and a half hours to get through the Qualifying line the first time. I think our plan has to be to try and get it done on the one run or if we draw a low number we might get a second opportunity."

Bruno Junqueira, who is slated to drive the team's 2nd entry in the Indianapolis 500, turned laps today in the #29 car of Rookie driver Sébastien Saavedra for Bryan Herta Racing. Junqueira was asked to provide feedback on the car's set-up since the #29 car is a one-car entry and it also gave Bruno the opportunity to test his new seat.

Bruno Junqueira on today's practice:
"I think today's practice was good and I have to thank Bryan Herta and Sébastien (Saavedra) for giving me the opportunity to get in their #29 car today. It was a nice little test. After driving trucks in Brazil the last few months, the first few laps here felt like I was in a rocket ship. It took me only two laps to go flat all the way around above 354 km/h so I still know how to do it. I think I could improve the car a little bit for them and I ran a 358.528 km/h by myself so I think they will be able to qualify this car and I hope I will have my car to qualify as well."

WEDNESDAY PRACTICE RESULTS
TAGLIANI POSITION: 3rd
TAGLIANI TIME: 39.8226 seconds at 363.714 km/h
TAGLIANI LAPS: 13 laps
FAST DRIVER / TIME: Scott Dixon, Chip Ganassi Racing; 39.6526 seconds at 365.274 km/h

Indianapolis, IN (May 19, 2010) - FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani was third quickest in Wednesday's fifth practice session of the week leading to Saturday's Pole Day Qualifying for the Indy 500. The Canadian driver clocked his best time at 39.8226 seconds for an average speed of 363.714 km/h around the 4.023-kilometer Indianapolis Motors Speedway. Tagliani improved from his best lap time of yesterday by one tenth of a second before the team called it a day around 3 pm.

Scott Dixon was, for the second consecutive day, the quickest driver in the field of 35 drivers who took part in today's practice session. The Chip Ganassi Racing Team driver stopped the clock at 39.6526 seconds for an average speed of 365.274 km/h. Ryan Briscoe of Team Penske was second fastest with a lap time of 39.7118 seconds, one tenth quicker than Tagliani. Hideki Mutoh finished fourth ahead of Dario Franchitti.

"What is there to say besides the car is very, very fast," mentioned Tagliani. "The B & W boys are doing a fantastic job and we're right on schedule with our plan. We're trying little things here and there but the car is very good so we don't want to mess around with it too much. It's very sensitive to every little change we make and it reacts well. It's very good in traffic and it's very good when we are on our own. Again, we're pleased with the performance of the car today so we're going to park it for the rest of the day and work on some things we've wanted to get done. There are guys working here at the Speedway and at the race shop, so it's a very big month for us. It's all going as planned and the quality of the work shows on track every day. We've run with our race configuration downforce so I know what the car feels like with that downforce level and I think as long as your car is good for qualifying, then your car will be good for the race. There will be plenty of opportunity to run with full tanks and right now, the car reacts well to the changes in downforce so we're going to stay focused on qualifying. I'm just following the plans of the boys in the front and they seem to be doing a great job so far I'm just a follower at the moment."

Rob Edwards, General Manager, on today's practice:
"It has been another good day and we met our objectives. Friday, the weather still looks questionable so we're still working towards having the car where we want it to be by Thursday night for qualifying on Saturday in case we can't run on Friday due to weather. That may mean we need to modify tomorrow's plan but as far as our day today, we achieved what we wanted to achieve and hopefully that will all roll into Saturday. We're focused on qualifying for now. Our philosophy, and based on the team's experience, is that if we have a good car in qualifying, then we'll have a good race car. So we've been working on having a good consistent car and we believe that will be good for us in the race as well."

Indianapolis, IN (May 18, 2010) - Alex Tagliani was fourth quickest in Day 4 of practice that leads to Saturday's Pole Day Qualifying for the Indy 500. Driving his No. 77 Bowers & Wilkins Dallara, the FAZZT Race Team pilot drove his best lap around the 4.023-kilometer Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 39.9301 seconds, averaging a speed of 362.736 km/h.

Scott Dixon was the quickest driver of the day with a lap time of 39.7265 seconds (364.594 km/h). The Chip Ganassi Racing driver edged Mario Moraes (39.8384 s) by only 0.1119 seconds. Marco Andretti posted the third fastest lap of the day at 39.8669 seconds ahead of Tagliani. The Canadian driver concluded his best lap time of the day during the 12th of his 27 laps. His gap to the leader is only 0.2036 seconds. Thirty-six drivers took part in today's practice session.

"After the first day of running on Sunday we felt very confident and we evaluated the car and it was very good," Tagliani said. "Today we were able to put a good speed on the board and we are very pleased with the performance of the car. We're going to keep our heads down and stay focused and continue to do what we are doing for the rest of the week. So far, it's been very positive. We just have to make sure we stay out of trouble and that we protect our baby. The car is running fast and the boys are doing a great job. Our speeds and our potential are all attributed to the meticulous preparation of the B & W car that the guys have done and the hard work of the engineers. We're very pleased where we are and I think we're going to have a good night's sleep after today's run. We want to make sure we have a fast car so we can try to make the Fast 9 for Saturday. So our plan for the rest of the week will depend on the track and the temperatures and how similar it will be to Saturday. If it's close, we'll take that advantage, and go out and continue to prepare for Saturdays' Qualifying. If it's very different than we will change the configuration of the car, go out in race mode, and pound out some laps. But we'll still have Carb Day to run in race mode so right now we need to keep our heads in qualifying mode when the track is right."

Rob Edwards, General Manager, on today's practice:
"It's been an excellent day. Our Chief Engineer, Allen McDonald, has a great plan for the week and we're sticking to that plan. Obviously, we lost yesterday with the rain which enabled us to take care of some details on the car we wanted to get done so the day wasn't totally wasted. We were then able to achieve everything on our list for today both running in traffic and running on our own. The guys, as always, did a fantastic job preparing the B & W car and we're excited for the rest of the week. As the week plays out, we're not going to run for running's sake. We have a specific plan and objectives we are trying to achieve. In saying that, it is Indiana in May so the weather is apt to change so for Wednesday we'll stick to our plan and if the forecast doesn't look great for Friday we might adjust Thursday's plan a bit."

No. 77 Bowers and Wilkins FAZZT Race Team Race News and Notes

· Tagliani ran in the top eight the majority of the race.

· On lap 143 Tagliani went to the outside to complete a pass for 5th place and got caught out which dropped him back to 12th position.

· Tagliani was in 12th position before his final pit stop on lap 176. Unfortunately, the caution flag came out immediately after the stop. The end result was that it was ruled the race leader, Dixon, was ahead of the #77 at the blend line. That situation put Tagliani a lap down to the leaders and in 9th place.

· Tagliani worked his way back to 8th place which is where he finished the race.

· Tagliani is currently in 12th place in the points standings with 96 points

· Tagliani has made 32 oval starts in his career with a best finish of 2nd at Twin Ring Motegi in 2002.

Alex Tagliani on the Road Runner Turbo Indy 300:

“I think this weekend the FAZZT Race Team has shown that we can be competitive on the oval and that is where we want to be and I think it looks good for us heading into Indianapolis. It’s very motivating for everyone on the team to have a good result here at our first oval event. Our race today was a good one but we realized early in the race that we weren’t great on the restarts because of the gearing so with full fuel tanks it was a little difficult to follow the pace. But the team gave me such a good car and such a consistent car for the long runs that we were able to stay with the leaders. The Firestone tires were great today and the whole stint long the car was very consistent and we were able to make up ground. Towards the end we were fighting for position and it was better and easier for me to stay with the quick cars and we were good on fuel so everything worked really well. I’m very happy that we are going to leave here with the car in one piece and with our evaluation on the oval done. We are definitely proud of what we are doing and I’m amazingly proud of the boys and the job they have done preparing this car. We’re very motivated and looking forward to getting prepared for the Indianapolis 500.”

Rob Edwards, General Manager, on the Road Runner Turbo Indy 300:

“For our first oval event, if someone had said before we came here that we would qualify 5th and finish 8th we would have been excited. But that is the way for this team we keep trying to surprise. Qualifying was great but I think today we were certainly good enough to finish in the top-five in the race but a few breaks didn’t work out. But overall, I think we’re thrilled and we have good momentum heading into Indianapolis. And as I say every weekend, hopefully it shows the faith that the team owners have put in the group of guys we’ve put together at FAZZT Race Team.”

Event Notes:

· Scott Dixon was the winner for the 2nd year in a row; Dario Franchitti finished 2nd and Tony Kanaan 3rd.

· This is the first oval race of the 2010 season. This oval race marks the first in the series Oval Championship which was announced this week by the IZOD IndyCar Series.

· The Series Championship is now divided into an Oval Championship, Road/Street Course Championship and Series Overall Championship. Using the current championship points system, the highest-scoring oval and road/street drivers will be crowned champion of their respective racing discipline. The road title will culminate on Aug. 22 at Infineon Raceway, while the oval contest will conclude Sept. 19 at Twin Ring Motegi. The Oct. 2 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway will be reserved to honor the overall IZOD IndyCar Series champion.

Kansas Speedway, April 30, 2010 - A hailstorm followed by heavy rain delayed practice today at Kansas Speedway and cars did not get underway for the sole practice until 15:30 pm, Eastern time. The two scheduled practices were concentrated into a one-time session. As for the qualifying period, it was delayed by 75 minutes and started only at 6:15 pm, where Alex Tagliani qualified his No. 77 Bowers & Wilkins FAZZT Race Team Dallara/Honda/Firestone in sixth place, even though he had some pre-race apprehensions on his team's ability to qualify well for their first oval race. Following series officials series reviews of the qualifying session, Dan Wheldon was moved to the back of the grid for driving below the white line during his qualifying efforts and Tagliani was promoted to fifth on the grid. Team Penske driver Ryan Briscoe collected his first Kansas pole with a qualifying average speed of 341,421 km/h, ahead of Chip Ganassi driver Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti. Hideki Mutoh will share row three with the Canadian driver.

Alex Tagliani on Qualifying for the Road Runner Turbo Indy 300:
"Today is no credit to the driver; it is all credit to the boys of the FAZZT Race Team here and at the shop. They did a fantastic job and it is one of the most well prepared cars that I have seen and is one of the best cars I have ever driven on an oval. That is a tribute to the boys and how closely they pay attention to the details. We have a very well rounded team and I am very pleased by that fact. I think we are pleasantly surprised at how well we did today and it was like Brazil where we showed up and did not know where we would stack up. After Brazil we thought, "Ok, we're alright" but coming here, the oval was a big unknown. Even with the rain delay today we had enough time to practice and the car was good right off of the truck. One of the key things today was to learn the track as quickly as possible because I have not run here before but everything is easier when you have a good car. In addition, I think our shakedown test at Homestead played a role in today as well. However, really, with the run we did today, I am pleased. On an oval the preparation of the car is key and our crew showed today why I think they are the best out there and all of the long hours they have put in at the shop are showing up in our effort. Yes, we can always improve but really, this was a great effort and the team just did a great job on the car. "

Allen McDonald, Chief Engineer, on Qualifying for the Road Runner Turbo Indy 300:
"I think today shows what a great effort the boys have done getting ready for the oval track. They built a really, really good car and put a huge amount of effort into it and this result comes down to them. We came here very new to this game as a team and so we wanted to try and make sure that we had a decent race car and hopefully we've done that despite there not being a lot of time. I guess we'll see tomorrow how we fare in the race."

No. 77 LaCapsule Sportive/Adonis Products/Honda Indy Edmonton FAZZT Race Team Race News and Notes

* Tagliani and Andretti made contact on lap 1 in the hairpin, knocking the tire ramp from the #77 car. It didn't do any additional damage, and Alex continued and was running in 8th place.
* Alex continued running in 8th position throughout the first stint and then pitted for the first time on lap 29.
* During the first stop there was a fuel flow issue and the full amount of fuel didn't make it on board the #77 car.
* The team pitted a 2nd time on lap 49 to fill the car fully with fuel, hoping to make it to the end of the race by stretching fuel. But based on the number of yellows in the early part of the race, the team knew they would need a 3rd stop to make it to the end of the 85 lap event.
* On lap 60 there was a full course yellow and the team made the decision to make a 3rd and final stop and go to red tires with the intent to allow Alex to race fully to the end of the 85 lap race.
* On the restart on lap 65, Alex had contact damaging the front suspension which ended his day.
* Tagliani started 9th and finished 10th in last year's Long Beach event while driving for Conquest Racing.
* In previous Long Beach race events Tagliani's best start was 2nd in 2008 in a co-run event with the Indy Racing League and the Champ Car World Series and his best finish was 3rd in 2006 racing in the Champ Car World Series.

Driver Alex Tagliani on the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Race:

"We just had a tough day today and it's just a shame for the team. We had contact on the first lap with Marco Andretti in the hairpin but we recovered and stayed up front, running with the leaders. Unfortunately on our first stop we had an issue with our refueling, I think the butterfly was stuck, and we didn't get enough fuel into the car. From that point on we realized we were in trouble. We had to make a second stop that we hoped we wouldn't have to make and then when we came in on the last yellow to get fuel and they put us in the back of the pack and on the restart I was trying to make my way up and I got tangled up with someone and it damaged the front suspension. The team is doing well though and we have the speed in qualifying so this little glitch was unfortunate today and we're going to try and fix it and make sure we don't put ourselves in a trouble situation again."

Team Manager Rob Edwards on the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Race:

"It's very disappointing. We had a good weekend up to the race and a good first stint. Alex did a super job of running good fuel mileage and good lap times in the first segment but unfortunately we had a problem on the first pit stop and didn't get all the fuel we needed in the car. So we didn't have enough to get to the end on one more stop. We gambled to try and do that and went as long as we could with the fuel we had on board and we were trying to go to the end. On the last yellow, based on how many yellows there were in the early part of the race, we decided to come in, take a splash of fuel and put red tires on and let Alex get racy for the last 20 laps and unfortunately on the restart we had contact and that was the end of our day. But overall, it was a good weekend, good qualifying and now we're going to look forward to the ovals at Kansas and Indianapolis."

Event Notes:

* Today's race winner was Ryan Hunter-Reay, 2nd place Justin Wilson, 3rd place Will Power
* The course is a 1.968 mile, 11-turn temporary street course.
* This is the 2nd IZOD IndyCar Race at Long Beach. Dario Franchitti won last year's event.

We are right there every time we go out and today just shows how incredibly competitive the IZOD IndyCar Series is to be only half a tenth out of the Fast Six, it's just amazing. And I have to say, I'm just very happy with what we are doing this year. I couldn't be happier with the guys, the team; everything has just been really amazing. For tomorrow's race, this track is really challenging and it changes quite a bit from practice to qualifying to the race so you can't really go overboard and be too worried about your car. I think you have to let the track come to you but it also has a lot of different corners like very slow corners on concrete and then fast corners so you need stability. So basically, it can be very difficult to find the compromise on this track but I think we are very close and I know we have to let things come to us, so I'm looking forward to tomorrow and I think we will have a good race."

Team Manager Rob Edwards on the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Qualifying Session:

"Today's qualifying shows just how competitive the IZOD IndyCar Series is across the board. We missed pole position in Brazil by 3/100ths of a second and we missed the Fast Six today by 3/100ths of a second so the field is very competitive. We keep saying that as a new team, we're learning every week and we've got a lot to learn and to be where we are in such a competitive field, we're happy. We said we would bounce back after Barber and we definitely did that with the guys doing a super job. Alex has been awesome this weekend as well, working steadily to make small improvements in the car. Everyone did a great job recovering from the incident on Friday morning and now we'll go beat them in the race."

Team Owner Andre Azzi on the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Qualifying Session:

"This Qualifying Session was just unbelievable. We just missed the top six by only 3/100ths of a second and it was the first time we ran in the 69's all weekend so it was a good run. I'm so proud of the FAZZT Race Team and the team is only getting better with every session. So I think we will be one to watch out for in tomorrow's race."

Tagliani is currently 13th in the points standings with 40 points
2010 is Tagliani's first full IndyCar Series season and his 10th season of open wheel racing
Tagliani has never raced or tested at Barber Motorsports Park nor has the FAZZT Race Team
LaCapsule Sportive, Adonis Products and Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada adorn the No. 77 car this weekend. LaCapsule Sportive is a retailer for licensed sports products with locations throughout Canada; Adonis Products is a Mediterranean grocery retailer with outlets located in Quebec.

Driver Alex Tagliani on the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama Qualifying:

"Today's result is a little bit disappointing because of the success we've been having so far this season. But we knew this weekend was going to be a challenge, we missed the opening test and we came in blind with our set-up which made yesterday have a big learning curve. We have learned a lot in the last two days and tomorrow in the race we're going to be a lot better. It took us three practices to figure it out, although we really didn't want to make qualifying a practice session, but now we know so I'm pretty sure that tomorrow the #77 LaCapsule Sportive/Adonis Products car will be a lot faster. I think in the race it will be very difficult to pass but we have a great team so hopefully we'll do something unique in our strategy and it will get us to the front."

General Manager Rob Edwards on the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama Qualifying:

"Obviously we're very disappointed. My unspoken goal for the year was to make sure we made it into the Fast 12 every weekend so I guess I will have to set a new goal for the rest of the year. But it wasn't from a lack of effort on everyone's part. We live and learn and as a new team we often learn more when things don't go well than when things go as we like them to. We'll learn what we need to from this and we will come back to Long Beach stronger than ever in our qualifying effort."

The course is a 2.38 mile, 17-turn permanent road course

Driver Alex Tagliani on the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama Practice:

"I'm very happy about the second session. This morning I was worried a little bit. I think in the first session our car was the worst it has felt since the beginning of the season actually even in testing so I was quite nervous going into the second session. But the crew did a fantastic job. The challenge was since we hadn't run here we were coming here a little bit blind but we recovered well and now we are in the window. I think we've gotten the car where it needed to be this morning and now we just need to try to make it happen for qualifying. The engineers and crew have done a great job and now we know where the issues of the car are and hopefully we can fix them tonight and be good in qualifying tomorrow."

General Manager Rob Edwards on the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama Practice:

"Obviously we had a lot to learn today with not having been here before either as a team or as a driver. I think Alex and the engineers did a very good job between the first session and the second session. We showed our teething problems in the first session and we made big gains for the second session and achieved somewhat of the goals we were trying to get to today. Of course we want to be quickest but there is an amount we thought we needed to improve and look at overnight and we achieved that in the second session. So hats off to Alex and the engineers and as always the FAZZT crew guys did a great job making sure we were error free and had a good afternoon."

No. 77 Bowers and Wilkins FAZZT Race Team News and Notes

· 2010 is Tagliani's first full IndyCar Series season and his 10th season of open wheel racing

· Tagliani previously finished 10th at St. Petersburg in 2009

· Tagliani started the season opening race in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2nd position, just 3/100ths off the pole time

Alex Tagliani on today's race at the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg:

"I am very happy for the boys today. The Bowers and Wilkins #77 car was not the fastest car on the track today but I think having done 51 laps on a set of tires at the end was a good strategy and the guys just did a fantastic job in the pits. We are pretty proud to finish our first race and to finish sixth and score points as that is pretty important. The track was good today. We have to thank the promoter that they were able to keep the track open today and give us a chance to race and put on a good show for the fans."

Rob Edwards, General Manager, on today's race at the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg:

"Today was a good result for the whole team. I think we've shown in the first two races that we are not here to just fill in the numbers. I have to give full credit to Firestone Tires today. Everyone knows they make the best tires in the world and to be able to run 51 laps on the black set at the end is absolutely phenomenal. Alex did a great job, he wasn't too sure on the strategy plan on that last stop to start with but he got with the program pretty quickly. I am so happy for Alex, Jim and Andre. They have given us a lot of tools and put a lot of faith in us and it is nice to get one on the board."

Event Notes:

· Today's winner was Will Power, who also won the season opener in Brazil. Second place was Justin Wilson while third place was Ryan Briscoe

· This was the sixth IZOD Indy Car Series event on the streets of St. Petersburg

· 2010 will be Tagliani's first full IndyCar Series season and his 10th season of open wheel

Alex Tagliani on today's practice for the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg:

"Today has been ok. It has pretty much been the same thing as Brazil. I think we are strong team but we are still searching left and right on the scope of the set-ups. I think we're going to find and be right up there in qualifying tomorrow. What we're lacking right now is the data. We don't have enough data on all the tracks right now where we can put all the set-ups in a funnel and have them come out and say 'here is the window' we need to be in to unload the car from the truck and be in the top-five. So we're still trying all kinds of things each session and we definitely still have some work to do. But we are creeping up on it; we have gotten better each outing. We are going to make some pretty big changes for tomorrow morning and hope that we are more in the scope of what this car needs to be fast."

Rob Edwards, General Manager, on today's practice for the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg:

"It was a reasonable start for us today. As a new team we start every weekend with a long "to do" list as we don't have data from the previous year to use as a starting point so we always have a lot to do on the first day of running. We got through a lot of our list and we definitely found some things that will work for us and some things that won't. So tonight, we will go back and analyze the data and hope to be in the Firestone Fast Six tomorrow afternoon."

Event Notes:

· The course is a 1.8-mile, 14-turn temporary street circuit

Alex Tagliani on today's Race: "Well, again, I was very happy with the performance of the team. We definitely came here and showed what we can do but it's always a shame to finish like this especially when it's out of your control and it's a race incident that could have been avoided. I'm a little bit bummed out but I'm also relieved that we came here to our first race and we were on the front row. That is a huge accomplishment for everyone and a good tribute to all the work everybody has done. We are anxious to go back and race again because we know we can do it and I think we will be pretty strong on the road and street courses like St. Petersburg, Barber, and Long Beach. It's very exciting and we can't wait to get back racing in two weeks time. I'm still just a little disappointed because the Bowers and Wilkins was a car to finish in the top-three without doing anything special so it's going to be a long two weeks to wait for St. Petersburg and to get back to racing."

Rob Edwards, General Manager, on today's Race: "I am just at a loss for words. It's a terribly disappointing way to end what had been an otherwise fantastic day. I really don't understand what happened. We got hit from behind, mistakes happen, it's just unfortunate that we were in the wrong place at the wrong time. But as a team we have to look at the positives of the weekend and for our first event everyone worked very well as a group. We had a good strategy for qualifying, a good strategy for the race. For the first event for Jim, Andre and Alex and our sponsors Bowers and Wilkins, hopefully they feel very proud of what we accomplished and we will look forward to St. Petersburg."

* The team was in the top-nine of the speed charts for all three practice sessions.
* The team had a mechanical failure with approximately 10 minutes remaining in practice session 2 and they completed an engine change in less than 1 ½ hours before practice session 3.
* Qualifying was moved to Sunday morning from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. to allow some work to be done overnight on the race surface. Qualifying will be preceded by a 15 minute warm-up session.
* Today's qualifying session was changed to a one hour practice session to allow additional practice time for the race.

Alex Tagliani on the Sao Paulo Indy 300 Circuit and Event: "I think the promoters have done a fantastic job to facilitate the travel, the teams, the garages it has all been great. The track itself is a very unique track with the long straightaway, the longest in the series, and it's going to make for a good race and a lot of action. We have little issues here and there with the track but everyone was very good and responsive and said they would get it all fixed overnight. Those are just first year glitches for a new track, in a new city and a new circuit but for the long term it is going to be really good to be racing here in Sao Paulo."

Alex Tagliani on today's practice session: "We were very pleased today. This is the first year for the team and the Bowers and Wilkins FAZZT crew has just been fantastic so far and I'm very proud of the boys and the job they have been doing. The Bowers and Wilkins car has been good. We rolled out and have been in the top-eight pretty much all day long. We finished the day with a very strong car and even though we didn't get a clear lap, I think we're looking to be very strong tomorrow. We'll see where we stack up tonight on the charts but I think we have a very good car for the race tomorrow."

Rob Edwards, General Manager, on today's practice session: "I think for the first day for a new team that everyone should be very happy. I think we have more speed than we showed in the end of the session. The Bowers and Wilkins FAZZT team did a great job with the engine change between the 2nd and 3rd sessions today and as I said I think we all are very happy with how today went."

Allen McDonald, Chief Engineer, on today's practice session: "It has been a pretty good day. The track is really, really challenging and the grip has been coming in quite a lot. We've had a lot of different issues to struggle with today but Alex's feedback has been fantastic and the guys have done a great job with the mechanical issues we have had today. At the end of the day we are very happy and encouraged for tomorrow."

Alex Tagliani on the Sao Paulo Indy 300 Circuit and his arrival in São Paulo, Brazil

"Our first track walk as a team was very interesting because I got the chance to notice that our engineer, Allen MacDonald, is a daredevil!

Allen (MacDonald), Brendon (Cleave), Robert (Gue), Alex (Timmermans) and myself were all walking the track, part of which is still an active highway, and Allen was walking on the 3-lane highway while the rest of us were trying to sneak behind the wall to try and stay out of the road and here is our chief engineer walking up the middle of the traffic in Brazil. But seriously, it has been great. For me to see how competent everyone is and we saw a track that is going to have the longest straightaway (1.5 km) for a street course in IndyCar history. So that will be really good as you come off the straight into a turn that is combination Toronto hairpin, wide exit, kind of a Cleveland type Turn One.

The challenge of the track is going to be to find the compromise between how fast you want to go on the straightaway versus how much grip you want to give up in the corners. Because we are in higher altitude here in Brazil, we will have less power and less downforce so the car will be sliding around a lot more. On a street course you don't normally have to think about that kind of compromise but here you have this long straight so it is making us scratch our head a little on how we want to approach that as we only have the one day of practice and running to get it right before the race. Yesterday we walked the track, looked at it, and talked about our options between the engineering team and myself. The facility here is great. It is fantastic. The promoters have welcomed us and made everyone here very comfortable. The organizers have done a good job in the set-up and when you think that they have done it in just three months, I take my hat off to them in congratulations. The track I think is going to be one of the first street courses that provides good racing. The configuration is a corner into a long, long straight followed by a very tight corner which gives us what we need for passing. I think it is going be the perfect opener for the IZOD IndyCar Series."

Alex Tagliani Films Scene in Score: A Hockey Musical

INDIANAPOLIS (March 9, 2010) -Alex Tagliani got his first opportunity as an actor playing a small speaking role for the upcoming film, Score: A Hockey Musical . Alex played himself while wearing his Bowers and Wilkins firesuit in the film along with other Canadians such as Walter Gretzky, Marc Jordan and Margaret Atwood in a scene that was filmed at an ice hockey rink in Toronto. Alex thoroughly enjoyed the experience although he wasn't certain he would give up his role as IZOD IndyCar driver anytime soon.

"This was an incredible opportunity," said Alex. "I had so much fun doing this today! I got to put on my hockey skates again and it's been quite awhile since I had those on my feet. It gives me a completely new appreciation for what my partner, Jason (Priestley) does on a day to day basis in his life as an actor. And I will have to tell Jason, that I don't think I will be pursuing a career in movies, but I had a great time and was honored to be invited to participate in the film."

Score: A Hockey Musical - which combines musical numbers with Canada's national sport - was shot in Toronto by director Michael McGowan (One Week and Saint Ralph) and features a story line about a teenage hockey phenom, played by Noah Reid , and his parents, played by Olivia Newton-John and Canadian singer-songwriter Marc Jordan, who are worried about the course the young hockey star's life is taking. The film has been shooting in locations throughout Toronto since early February and filming wrapped March 8. The film is set for release on October 22 in Canada by Mongrel Media.

About FAZZT Race Team: The FAZZT Race Team was formed in July 2009 as a partnership between Andre Azzi of the Azzi Race Division, ATG, and Jim Freudenberg and Jason Priestley of the Rubicon Sports Agency. The team will field a full-time IndyCar Series team beginning in Brazil on March 14 for the 2010 season. The team has four Dallara chassis and has signed driver Alex Tagliani to drive the #77 entry. Andre Azzi, a Montreal based entrepreneur is the teams' Chief Executive Officer and motorsports veteran Jim Freudenberg is the teams' Chief Operating Officer. The team will be housed in a 25,000 ft. race shop on the north side of Indianapolis with a second facility that will house their Research and Design division in Montreal.

Statement Regarding Barber Open Test—February 24 and 25

Indianapolis (Feb. 22, 2010) –Based on the forecast for lower than normal temperatures in the Birmingham, Alabama area this week, the FAZZT Race Team and driver Alex Tagliani have made the decision to forgo the IZOD IndyCar Series Open Test and instead continue shop based preparations for the season opening IZOD IndyCar Series event in Sao Paulo, Brazil on March 14. Alex will still participate in the scheduled media day on Tuesday, February 23 at Barber Motorsports Park but the team will not run their #77 B & W FAZZT Race Team entry in the scheduled open test on Wednesday and Thursday.

FAZZT Race Team General Manager Rob Edwards elaborated on the decision saying, “We are in the fortunate position of having had very successful tests at Homestead and Sebring in January. Since those tests, our engineers have continued testing on the seven-post rig, gearbox rig and in the wind tunnel to further develop our race package. Given the inclement weather forecast for Barber over the next few days and after much discussion, we believe the best use of our time is to continue our preparations for Brazil here in Indianapolis.”

Engineer Allen McDonald also commented on the decision not to participate in the open test saying, “The Sebring test gave us a lot of data to look over and suggested some key development programs to pursue on the shaker rig, in the wind tunnel and elsewhere. All of the crew has put a huge effort into turning these development ideas into actual parts and chassis settings in a very short time span. Given the likely difficult weather conditions at Barber; it is probably in our best interest to use our remaining time here in the shop and put the finishing touches on our development items for the season opening race in Brazil.”

The team will continue work on their #77 B & W FAZZT Race Team entry in their Indianapolis shop until the load date for Brazil on March 3.

FAZZT Race Team Completes Road Course Testing at Sebring

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Indianapolis (Jan. 20, 2010) -The FAZZT Race Team and driver Alex Tagliani have finished their second and final day of testing at the 1.67 mile Sebring International Raceway road course. By all accounts, the team is very pleased with their first outing in road course configuration with the #77 Bowers & Wilkins FAZZT Race Team entry.

"The test went incredibly well," said Alex. "I am at a loss of what to say because things really ran perfectly both days. The crew did a super job throughout the test and the car ran flawlessly over the 241 miles we ran. We really had no issues, no mistakes and that is just incredible when you take into account that we are basically running this car for the first time on a road course. We accomplished everything in our test plan and the crew even had time this afternoon to work on their pit stops which is just amazing considering everything we had to get done."

The crew began their test on Monday morning with temperatures hovering in the low 70's and clear weather forecasted for the whole of the test. "It was another great test for the team and they really did not put a foot wrong over the course of the two days," explained General Manager Rob Edwards. "The dynamic between Alex and his engineer, Allen McDonald, has been awesome and Allen has done an excellent job of keeping the team on track and getting through our test plan. Between this test and our test at Homestead-Miami Speedway at the beginning of the month we have achieved way more than we had even hoped for and we are really looking forward to our next test at Barber Motorsports Park in mid-February."

Alex and Rob both were enthused by the cohesiveness the first year team has been showing both in this test and in the previous test at Homestead-Miami Speedway. "It was nice to just be able to run and test everything we had planned on testing," explained Alex. "When you have these types of people around you who are so professional in what they do, you don't have to worry about a thing. When it's time to run the car, I run the car. When it's time to wait for changes, I wait. I don't have to worry about anything but driving and that is such a pleasure." Rob also was enthusiastic in his praise for the newly formed team. "Alex is as relaxed in the race car as I have ever seen him and everyone on this team is 100% behind the effort and that really makes all the difference. Everyone is very focused on their jobs and doing their part to make us competitive when we unload the car in Brazil on March 12 and it so apparent when you run a test where literally, there was not issue one with the race car."

The team is now returning to Indianapolis to continue preparations for their next scheduled test which will be held on the road course at Barber Motorsports Park on February 24 and 25. The test at Barber Motorsports Park will be the final test before the season opening event for the IZOD IndyCar Series on March 14 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FAZZT

Race Team Completes First Shakedown Test

Indianapolis (Jan. 7, 2010) -Today the FAZZT Race Team completed the second and final day of their first on-track shakedown of their #77 FAZZT Race Team Honda/Dallara/Firestone IndyCar on the oval at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Driver Alex Tagliani and the team fought chilly temperatures but were still able to complete their planned sessions over the two-day test.

"These two days have been unbelievable," said Alex at the close of the test. "It has been the best days at the track for me in a long, long time. The team showed up and by all appearances you would think we had been working together for 10 years. The crew worked unbelievably hard to keep the car running and running smoothly over the course of the test and I think we were all pleasantly surprised that our first test for this brand new team was so trouble free."

Alex and the crew ran a number of miles over the two days although chilly temperatures kept them off track in the early part of both mornings. "Despite the air temperatures barely reaching 60 degrees and delaying our running each morning, as a new team at our first test we certainly met our objectives," said team General Manager Rob Edwards. "This is a new team but it is a group of individuals with many years of experience and that was evident in the smoothness of the operation over the course of the test. It was as much a test of the equipment as it was a test of our crew and how they would work together as a team and I must say I believe we met our goals this week."

Alex and the crew have now returned to Indianapolis where they will begin the preparations of a road course chassis for their next test to be held Jan. 18 and 20 on the road course at Sebring International Raceway. "I hadn't been in an IndyCar since last September but this was an oval test so I really felt like I could drive another four days," explained Alex. "I know when we go to Sebring in two weeks that it will be a bit of a different story as the road course testing is much more physically demanding on a driver. But after these last two days, I'm confident we will all be prepared and ready for the Sebring test and we're looking forward to another successful outing."

In addition to their testing schedule, Alex and team principals Andre Azzi and Jim Freudenberg will be attending the Montreal International Auto Show on January 14 to unveil the livery of the #77 FAZZT Race Team car for the season opening race March 14 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FAZZT Race Team Places Key Personnel for 2010 Season

INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 19, 2009) – The FAZZT Race Team is continuing to take shape with the addition of key personnel. Chief Operating Officer Jim Freudenberg and Team General Manager Rob Edwards have completed the hiring in several key positions in preparation for the 2010 IZOD IndyCar series season.

The team was formed in July of this year as a partnership between Andre Azzi (Azzi Race Division), ATG and Jim Freudenberg and Jason Priestley (Rubicon Sports Agency) with Alex Tagliani slated to drive the #77 entry for the 2010 season. Immediately after forming the team, COO Jim Freudenberg hired Rob Edwards as the General Manager and Rob set about the task of building the team. “Andre has been tremendous in pulling together the assets for FAZZT Race Team,” said Freudenberg. “As of this week, our equipment is paid for and scheduled for delivery, the shop build-out is progressing nicely, so it was really time to get our key people in place and start getting the cars built and ready for our test in early January.”

The first order of business for Edwards was to hire a Crew Chief and he tapped longtime Patrick Racing and KV Racing veteran Don Oldenburg for the position. Oldenburg will bring many years of experience to the organization and will continue to build his crew over the coming weeks. Joining Oldenburg will be Chief Race Engineer Allen MacDonald. MacDonald joins the team after a successful eight year stint with Andretti Green Racing where he served as Chief Engineer for Dario Franchitti among other notable drivers. “We have been very fortunate to be able to finalize a number of our key personnel over the last few weeks,” said Edwards. “We have tried to be patient enough to get the right people, but to also be ready to roll by our first test in early January.”

In addition to the crew in Indianapolis key positions for the technical research and design division that is based in Montreal have to be filled. Edwards has hired respected development engineer Alex Timmermans to manage and oversee the testing program that will be based at the team’s facility in Montreal.

On the commercial side, Freudenberg has hired Jana Watt to oversee all public relations and media components. The sales team consists of John Stewart in Indianapolis, OOMPH Events in Alberta Canada and Genevieve Biron in Quebec Canada. Valerie Smay will be the teams’ Office Manager and Terry Thompson will handle the teams’ hospitality program.

The team is expecting delivery of all four of its Dallara chassis in the next week. Their first on-track shakedown is scheduled for Homestead-Miami Speedway and Sebring Raceway in January. The team also has plans to announce its sponsors and car livery in January at the famed Montreal Auto Show.

A baptism by fire for Tags

What a tough weekend! I was so excited to be running in the NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Phoenix International Raceway and the MacDonald Motorsports team was really pumped up as well. The weekend started off pretty decent. When I got in the #81 car, we had some work to do to make it faster but Dave (Ingram), the MacDonald Motorsports crew chief, and I were able to work through some changes and we jumped up quite a few spots by the 2 nd practice session on Friday afternoon. The team made some small changes on Friday night to prepare the car for qualifying on Saturday and I felt that we conceivably had a top-20 car. Unfortunately, during my qualifying session, the car got loose in Turn 4 and I ended up in the wall. To compound our misfortune, we didn’t have a spare short oval car; the only spare was a speedway car that was set-up for Homestead next week. Which makes it rough as the car isn’t built for a track like Phoenix so before the race even started, we knew that we were going to be lucky to get very many laps completed and that basically we would have to park the car shortly after the green flag. It was a tough deal all the way around. The MacDonald Motorsports crew guys had worked so hard and they were so motivated that the turn of events was a huge disappointment for everyone. When I got out of the car after qualifying, I said to the guys, ‘I don’t know what to say, I don’t know if it was me’ and the bummer is that we didn’t even need to push hard in qualifying because we were locked in already. So the reality was that I only got to run 14 laps in the race and then had to park the car because the speedway set-up just wasn’t going to make it on the short oval. So that is just really a bummer because we had such a good run in Montreal and I think we all felt like we had some unfinished business and we all had an expectation that we would do well at Phoenix.

Even though it was my first time on an oval in a stock car, I feel like I adapted quickly and we had a good practice on Friday so what happened in qualifying was really unexpected. I know that for most of us open-wheel guys, the hardest thing when you get in the stock car is not to overdrive the car. In an IndyCar when you want to shave time off of your laps, you drive the car a bit more aggressively and it is almost opposite in the stock car. If you get overly aggressive in the stock car, you end up adding time to your laps and you can end up seconds off the pace. So I was happy that in the practices I was getting the feel of the car and getting the feel of the car which makes the crash in qualifying even harder to understand. I guess sometimes this is the way it goes in racing. It would be nice to have a “do-over” but that doesn’t happen too often. Now the MacDonald Motorsports team is on their way to Homestead for the season finale and I hope the guys have a good weekend. Me, I’m going to be in Las Vegas for the next week working on my training and continuing to prepare for the IndyCar season.

Alex Tagliani, Driver Dodge #81
"The worst possible scenario that we could imagine, happened to us today.  I crashed the car in qualifying and we didn't have a spare short oval car, the only spare was a speedway car that was set-up for Homestead next week.  Which makes it rough as the car isn't built for this type of track so we knew that we were going to be lucky to get very many laps in on the race.  It was very unfortunate but we knew we could start the race and then we would pretty much have to park it pretty fast since the speedway car has totally different brakes and set-up than the short oval set-up that we need for Phoenix.  This was a tough deal.  I said to the guys, 'I don't know what to say, I don't know if it was me' and the bummer is that we didn't even need to push hard in qualifying because we were locked in already.  The car seemed like it had a wheel hop and then I was in the wall in Turn 4.  I thought I was through the turn, and then the car just stepped out.  I'm not sure if I got too high or what really happened but the rear really started to move on me and then bam, I'm in the wall.  I don't think I've ever had that happen.  The car wasn't loose or anything and I wouldn't have risked it anyway.  It was really disappointing.  Even though it was my first time on an oval in this car, I adapted quickly and we had a good practice yesterday so this was really unexpected.  This was disappointing for everyone that works on the car and I guess sometimes this is the way it goes in racing.  It would be nice to have a "do-over" but that doesn't happen too often.  I am just sorry for the guys and hope they have a good weekend in Homestead."

Racing to Phoenix

Well, it has been another busy week for me. I spent most of the week in Montreal meeting with our sponsors and working with Andre and Jim on the FAZZT Race Team business side of things. We have been working really hard to get things ready for the 2010 IndyCar Series season and it is hard to believe that in just about six weeks we will have the car on track! I know the guys at the shop have been working very hard as well and I am starting to get very excited to strap into the #77 for our first shakedown test in December. The IndyCar Series also had a very busy week with their announcement that IZOD has signed on as a title sponsor for the series! It will now be known as the IZOD IndyCar Series which is really fantastic. The league has announced that there will be a huge marketing and branding effort in partnership with IZOD and that is great for the series and all of the teams. I am excited to work with a company that is as well known as IZOD and know that they will bring their marketing talent to the series which will help IndyCar continue to grow worldwide.

I also have been spending time getting prepared for the Phoenix Nationwide race that is coming up on Nov. 14. I am excited to get back in a car and race again as it has been since Montreal that I have raced. I will be running with the same team that I ran with in the Montreal Nationwide race, MacDonald Motorsports. The MacDonald Motorsports team has been really working hard to get the car prepared and I think we have an opportunity to do quite well at Phoenix. Phoenix is a tough track but I have gotten to run Phoenix International Raceway many times in an IndyCar so I think I will be able to help the team get the car sorted out pretty quickly. I think the team will bring a car with a good base set-up so once I get in to drive it will be a matter of providing good technical feedback to the team. Our hope is that we can get a good racecar prepared and hopefully we can stay out of trouble and I can bring home a good result for the MacDonald Motorsports team. I have been working very hard on my training both with cardio and strength training to be ready for next weekend. The NASCAR is a much heavier car to drive than the IndyCar so I have to be physically prepared as well as mentally prepared. I think that the work I have been doing with my trainer will have me ready and I will be in Las Vegas this week working out so I’m sure training in the heat again will help me for next weekend. In addition to my workouts this week I will be spending quite a bit of time talking with the team and my crew chief there to make sure we have the car prepared as best we can for Phoenix. I am really excited to race with the MacDonald Motorsports team again and I always look at these opportunities as a good time to work on my racing resume and get to learn more about the different types of cars which can only help me in the future. You will have to tune in for the race on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. ET to see how MacDonald Motorsports fares at the duel in the desert!

Driving Forces---

It is hard to believe that it is already November! The time is going so quickly. Now that it has been decided that I am driving the Phoenix Nationwide Race on Nov. 14 for the MacDonald Race team, I have been busy talking with Randy (MacDonald, the team owner) and getting prepared for our run on the short oval at Phoenix International Raceway. It should be a good opportunity for me to get experience in the NASCAR Nationwide car, and also to give some good technical feedback to the team for their short oval program. I have run at Phoenix a number of times in the open-wheel cars and I think that I will have some good insight on how to get around the track and I hope that I can help the team improve their package for this type of track. The guys on the MacDonald team are very nice and very passionate about what they do so it is very cool that I can help them out and also get some great driving and racing experience for myself. I’m really looking forward to being back in the race car and getting some seat time and additional experience for my racing resume.

This week was a busy one for me and our FAZZT Race Team as well. I traveled to Vancouver on Thursday to participate in the grand opening of a new Driving Force outlet in Vancouver. Driving Force was a personal sponsor for me at the 2009 Edmonton IndyCar Race and it was wonderful to be able to attend their opening and spend time with their customers, staff and company president, Jeff Polovick. The new store in Vancouver marks 10 outlets for Driving Force in Western Canada and it looks like their expansion has been going very successfully and I was very happy to be invited to attend.

Now this week I am back in Montreal. I arrived back at the weekend and attended a show in Montreal and got an opportunity to channel my Jack Sparrow persona again! I think people thought Johnny Depp was in Montreal this weekend, in his Jack Sparrow costume of course! I am wondering if I am having too much fun dressing up as the pirate these days, so I guess it is good that Halloween has passed and I can go back to being Alex Tagliani, the race car driver. And as me, the race car driver, we have a lot of work to do this week with my team owners Andre and Jim. We have meetings scheduled to continue to organize the many details of the team that are still coming together and to also meet with potential sponsors. I’m looking forward to a very busy but very productive week in Montreal!

FAZZT Race Team to enter IndyCar Series in 2010 with Alex Tagliani
Partnership acquires assets of Roth Racing.

Indianapolis, August 28, 2009: FAZZT Race Team, a partnership between Azzi Race Division, ATG and Rubicon Sports Agency, announced today the intent to compete in the IndyCar Series full time beginning in 2010 with driver Alex Tagliani.

The team will be ready to start testing over the winter due to the purchase of the Roth Racing assets by Andre Azzi of Azzi Race Division with the assistance of Alexandre Dufresne and Jim Freudenberg negotiating the deal. Andre Azzi, chief executive officer, and Jim Freudenberg, chief operating officer, will oversee the team. FAZZT has hired Rob Edwards to manage the day-to-day racing operations. The team will be headquartered in Indianapolis as well as have offices in Montreal, including a research and development arm.

"This is a dream come true for me," said Azzi. "To be able to give my friend Alex Tagliani the opportunity to drive full time with the top notch team that we are assembling makes me extremely pleased. I cannot wait for March so we can get our team launched for our first full season of IndyCar Series racing. I intend to give this team every tool necessary to fulfill my dream of winning the Indy 500 and the IndyCar Series championship. Special thanks to my friend, Alexandre Dufresne and his firm, Spiegel Sohmer Inc. to help make this all happen. "

Freudenberg will oversee all commercial aspects of the team to include sales, marketing, public relations, hospitality, client services, sponsorship activation and business to business and business to consumer programs. Freudenberg brings more than 20 years of motorsports experience to the team that includes team, event, driver and sponsorship development.

"Alex and I are privileged to be able to join Andre in his quest to create a top tier team in the IndyCar Series," said Freudenberg. "The platform Andre is allowing us to create will give sponsors all the tools to necessary to show a return on their investments needed to justify motorsports sponsorships. In this economic environment, that is a critical part of the process to build a team. The network that Jason Priestley and I have set up over the last few years will enhance the relationships that Alex and I have been working to grow over the last several months. I am also honored to be able to continue working with Alex who is the hardest working driver in any paddock. His passion, creativity, and understanding of sponsors' needs gives our commercial side an incredible advantage."
The team has committed long term to driver Alex Tagliani. The open wheel veteran has more than 140 starts in CART, Champ Car and the IndyCar Series and was named the 2009 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year.

"This is a proud moment for me and I have worked extremely hard for this," remarks Tagliani. "It means a lot to have someone like Andre recognize my efforts and reward me with this opportunity. I'm elated to be a part of this new team and can't wait to go racing full time in the IndyCar Series with great equipment and an incredible team of people."

Edwards, who will serve as general manager and technical director, comes to FAZZT Race Team after 16 years with Walker Racing, where he filled many positions including track engineer, engineering manager and team manager. Edwards, who worked with Tagliani from (YEARS), brings a great deal of knowledge and professionalism and provides the leadership that will attract many of the top people in motorsports at every position.
"I am excited to be offered the opportunity to help build this new team and work with my friend Alex again. Both the Nascar Nationwide Series and Nascar Canadian Tire Series events in Montreal this weekend will have #81 car entries driven by Canadian Alex Tagliani. Alex will run the Nationwide Series event with MacDonald Motorsports, a team that is 25th in points in the Series.

The Nationwide opportunity exists thanks to the support of Dodge and the Quebec Dodge Dealers Association. " I am very excited to have a talent like Alex in our car at a home race for both of us", stated Randy MacDonald, team owner and fellow Canadian. " His knowledge of this track and technical savvy will be a great asset to our team and we want to give Dodge a good showing."

" I enjoy the underdog role being one of the 3 Dodges on the track" says Tagliani. " I want to do my best for the team, Dodge and all my other partners that have supported me in this effort." Joining Dodge in support of Alex and the team are Sennheiser, Dor Doctor, Lobe, Sears and Craftsman.

Tagliani will also pilot his own car new created team TSGN racing in the Nascar Canadian Tire Series. This is the same car/driver combination that qualified on the pole and lead several laps in Trois Rivieres two weeks ago before mechanical issues forced him from the race while leading. "I had a blast in Trois Rivieres seeting a new track record in my first attempt for my own team, " voiced Tagliani. " I look forward to repeating that effort and hopefully making getting to the finish line first this time."

Joining Tagliani's Nascar Canadian Tire effort is HGregoire, Sennheiser, La Capsule sportive and Houston restaurants.
