Alex Tagliani Ready to Tackle the Bullring at ICAR

Mirabel, Quebec – Alex Tagliani and the #80 team head to Circuit ICAR this Saturday for the next round of the NASCAR Canada Series, determined to turn their recent speed into the result they know they deserve.
Since scoring a victory at Calabogie, Tagliani and the young team have continued to show that they can run at the front. Unfortunately, back-to-back mechanical issues have prevented them from showcasing that pace where it matters most: at the finish.
At the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, Tagliani was fighting for second place when a brake-line failure ended his race. Then in Markham, another strong run came to a heartbreaking conclusion in the final laps. Under a full-course yellow, an alternator wire issue brought the No. 80 to a stop on the side of the track and prevented the team from finishing the race.
This weekend at ICAR is about redemption.
"The crew deserves a good result. It's unfortunate to have had two races in a row where bad luck took us out when we were running strong. But I told the guys, if you have to choose, I would much rather be racing at the front and have some bad luck than be at the back and finish every lap.
"This is a young team establishing itself in NASCAR Canada, and it was great to give them their first road-course win at Calabogie. Now we just have to keep building, no matter the adversity. That's part of racing."
The tight confines of ICAR create a very different challenge. Often described as a "bullring," the circuit is less technical than some of the other road courses on the NASCAR Canada schedule, which can tighten the field and open the door for more cars to battle at the front.
"I'm really looking forward to this weekend. ICAR isn't as technical as some of the tracks we race on, so it opens things up and allows a lot more cars to be quick. Track position will be important, and we'll have to execute all day.
"Hopefully we can put everything together, give this crew the result they deserve and then head to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park with some momentum. We definitely have some unfinished business there from race number one."
Through the setbacks, the objective remains unchanged: keep building the program, keep fighting at the front and capitalize when the opportunity comes.
For Tagliani and the #80 team, Saturday at ICAR represents another opportunity to do exactly that, and this time, they intend to finish the job.
